I heard that eating nothing but fruits and vegetables for a week can be a useful way to detoxify. Does this work? Will I lose weight or gain weight? Anyone ever try this?

You will most certainly loose weight on this diet. furthermore this will be ok if you ant to shift a few pounds fast. However you may find that you will have a tummy upset due to a change in diet f you are not used to fruit in vast quantities. also these kind of diets are no good long term because as soon as you start to eat normally you will put weight on faster. so if you decide to do this diet perhaps eat fruit all day, drink hot lemon as well to detoxify but eat a balanced meal at night this way you you are more likely to keep the weight off you loose. Unless you have a medical problem, it won't hurt you at all. A person needs protein, so if you continued this diet you would need some protein, but for a week it won't hurt. You will probably lose a little weight because of the lack of carbs in your diet. Watch what kinds of fruit you eat though. A lot of sugar won't help much with detoxifying.

You could lose or gain, based on your normal weight index. If you eat a lot of fruit high in sugar and do not exercise, you might think about doing so, a week of vegetables and fruits doesn't harm Vegans, but go to a nutritionist and ask them how to proceed, you want to make sure you're healthy before you do this and healthy after wards.

Eat only organic if you are planning to detoxify. One whole week sounds like a long time. Remember, what you eat the day after is just as critical as the fast itself.

Please note that we Indians and particularly Brahmins and other vegetarians fast with only taking fruits and raw vegetables during the month of Sravana (Mid July-Aug) and also on the MAHASHIVARATRI day . This is most scientific system in the Ayurveda. There is also a saying "LANKANAM PARAMA AUSHADAM"
Please take care that you do not change your diet immediately after the preferred period. Gradually increase your diet and a sudden change may harm your digestive system.
Take care you do this for a week every year in a particular month.

You will poop. A normally healthy person can fast for ten days at least without having any deficiencies. Eating fruits and vegies for a week wont hurt you. If you intend to go longer then you need to consider protein balance and things like that.

you would definitly lose weight but if your bodies not used to you eatting that that way you may feel abit dizzy sometimes then its good to go get a sand widge but try keeping it to one a day if you want to lose weight also if you do a bit of excersize you will lose 5 to 6kg in a week

but to do this it is suggested not to be done for more than a few weeks in a 6 month period

Not a very smart idea, you would be depriving your body of very useful nutrients that you otherwise couldn't get. That is why on average, vegetarian and vegans live much shorter lives than those than don't deprive their body of meat. Don't try this, and if you are going to disregard this answer, at least take some multi-vitamins and do some research before you do make such a decision.

ya some people are trying this.in that week u may increase acidity due to eating of fruits more. definitely you will loose the resistance power of your body. more over you should not have
any important responsibility or work on that week then you can
adopt the method
