The term 'Christians' refers to all the Christians of all denominations including the Protestants. The latter term refer to those who follow the churches that owe no allegiance to the Roman Catholic Church, headed by the Pope of Vatican. It got its name as Protestant, because they came out of the church headed by the Pope, in protest against certain religious practices and malpractices.

well protestants are Christians. They are one of the main branches of Christians. Usually people differentiate between Catholics and Protestants. Protestants got their name because under the leadership of Martin Luther during the reformation, they protested against the papacy and opposed the alleged wrongful practices of the Church.
There is also a difference between the Protestant Bible and the Catholic Bible. The protestants believe in only the scriptures that are spiritually led.

Catholic Christians believe in having the Church ( its leaders and priests) and the multitude of Saints to intercede for them in the Sanctum of the God. Sort of like a Royal Court or Court of Law where God is Judge and the saints are lawyers I guess

Protestant Christians believe that they can use a direct call to God without an intermediary. Kind of like if a person had a problem, they can just go to the Town Sheriff to lodge a complaint or ask for help.

but BOTH believe that Jesus is the Savior

( this is just ONE of the differences, there are of course other larger differences thathave nothing to do with Spiritual Beliefs and faith, more to do with societal issues, politics and finances)

All Protestants are Christians but not all Christians are Protestants. Christianity is not just about disagreeing with the Roman Catholics!

Protestants are one of Christianity's sects, it is like asking the difference between cats and mammals, a categorisation error.

And as usual all the atheists will know this and half the so-called Christians won't have a clue.

Christians are believers in Christ as their Saviour. Protestants may not necessarily hold that belief to be true.
