Some of these answers don't really answer your question . The answer to your question is .....YES.....it is tough to quit . I was a heavy smoker for 9 years . I tried quiting several times without any success . I smoked my last cigarrete on 16 Jan 2000 and I still have cravings . I stopped because I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and it had spread to my lungs . Today I'm fit and healthy , have a better quality of life and don't regret stopping . I made a conscious decision that day and stuck to it but it's hard . You need to just look at your life and decide what you want from it and why you want to stop . That's the first step . Quitting smoking is the hardest drug to quite, but it can be done with a Strong will power. I have watched many try to beat cancer and have taken care of a sibling with brain cancer which unfortunately he did not beat, he never smoked.

anybody can quit smoking if they really want to. I did it cold turkey in '89 and at that time I was up to 3 packs a day

No lot of people have left smoking with a strong will.
Visit some people in a hospital suffering from smoking.
You will stop smoking.
