With 5 mega-pixels and a continuous shooting speed of 2 FPS for 5 shots, the TZ1 will only place moderate demands on the memory card. A high speed card really isn't necessary - high speed cards only make sense for dSLR cameras, like the Nikon D200 or the Canon 30D, where you need to store a continuous burst of 10 mega-pixel files at 5 FPS.
For the TZ1, I recommend a 512 MB SanDisk Ultra ll ($35). The Ultra ll is a clear step above bargain basement cards in terms of speed and reliability, and it should be able to handle anything the Panasonic can throw at it.
If you plan on taking hundreds and hundreds of pictures at a time, or if you want to shoot a lot of video, get the 1 GB version instead ($47).
P.S. the TZ1 looks like a pretty fun camera, albeit not so great for low light situations: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonictz1/page11.asp
