What’s with the Bruce Lee nut hugging? All I read is Bruce is the best, Bruce is the strongest man alive, Bruce will beat anyone up etc. etc. Except no one provides any proof to back it up, besides oh my ‘friend’ has this DVD and Bruce hits people so fast you have to slow it down to see his punches!, Or I’ve seen Bruce kick a heavy bag 20ft in the air! (LOL) or once Bruce did this in his “film” or Bruce would kick *** in the UFC. But where is the proof? What evidence do you have to say he would? Have you even seen Bruce Lee have an actual non scripted non movie fight? If so, show me, or point me in the direction of where to find it? Not just “OH MY FRIENDZ HAS THIS DVDZ!!!”.

I’m really getting sick of these BS Bruce Lee posts full of crazy myths and legends of Bruce doing godlike things but without a shred of evidence. Please show me the things that makes Bruce the lethal man that so many people here claim him to be. Please people PUT up or SHUTUP. End this Bruce BS NOW.

I agree with you. However I wouldn't say there is NO proof, unsubstantiated statements are proof, just not very good proof.

Much of his image comes from linda lee trying to bolster it to cash in.

There is little evidence of if he was "great" or not. It is logical that he had some level of skill because he had a name for himself and I would imagine he would have been exposed. but he didn't have a fight record so there is no way to know for sure.

Even still, don't think the UFC is a good measure of bruce lee because it is pretty obvious what worked 30 years ago is not necessarily what works today so even if he was "spectacular" then he was so 30 years ago when MMA and groundfighting wasn't really a reality (it was around, but no where near as popular or practiced as it is today). Bruce even admits that muhammad ali would have kicked his ***.

However I don't think it is fair to take away the man's accomplishments in hollywood. Even though fanboy's may piss you off it was a good and big step for asians in hollywood pictures. that has little to do with his actual ability but it is wrong to take that from him.

Friend.... The man is dead. Just what kind of "proof" do you want? For the man to come out of the grave and kick your ***?

Keep in mind that every martial arts legend, Bruce Lee, Morihei Ueshiba, or any of the other past legends of martial arts always start to take on an image of mythic hero with "powers beyond mortal men". You want proof of what the man was about. Look at his own teachings and interviews. Even he didn't buy into the superhuman image of a martial artist. His own experience and teachings were about the "honest expression of oneself" in the most "simple, efficient, and effective" way possible.

The only proof of his abilities you'll find now are in the stories about fights he had "behind the scenes" of his movies or an even better example is in the shear impact he has had on the martial arts world.

look for a documentary called "Curse of the Dragon" it's distributed by Warner Brothers home video. it has several clips of previously unreleased footage including his invitation to Master Ed Parkers first tournament where he argued and displayed some of his techniques.

as Shaman said, the proof is in his books, and the teachings he left behind with his family and the friends that he made within the Martial Arts community.

you can also check out the Jeet Kune Do nucleus website or bruceleefoundation.com for more info.

most folks have only "heard" of what he can do, and as Shaman said he's attained a "godlike" status through what he's done for the world of Martial Arts, he was a phenominal fighter nevertheless quite possibly th best Martial Artist in the world.

and just a personal note: FYI you can get your point across without bein a little beeyotch about it dude.

take some prozac and chill guy. CRIPES

There may be crazy stories, but he still is legend and quite a accomplishment when he was like first Asian person to be big star in Hollywood. I personally saw him beat up a bear with his fists. And I saw him jump across grand canyon and land on his two fingers. It's true.

I completely agree with the person that posted the question.

Bruce Lee wasn't some sort of god that can't be beat please take him off the pedestal. Some of the fighters now are better than Bruce ever was... ever.
