I asked a question earlier and got a number of answers. I appreciate those who offered their inputs and insights. Now I'd like to ask if I did the right thing to confess to this online friend about my pranks. He clearly was very upset and refused to stay in touch with me any longer. I was devastated and have been trying my best to get a second chance. He felt hurt by my pranks, and I feel truly sorry for it. I told him I was sincere; otherwise, I could've chosen to keep him in the dark and continued the pranks. I chose to confess, and I believe I did the right thing. But I lost a friend because I chose to be honest with him, so I'd like to ask you if you think I did the right thing or not. Thanks in advance for your input.
I really appreciate it.

honesty is a very good thing to do.. but sometimes honesty can make other people hurt.. for your situation I think you did the right thing.. you are being responsible of what you did and now you have to take your consequences of your action..
why don't you think it this way, if you didn't tell your friend at all and eventually he will know it by him self, I'm sure he will be much much angrier than now because you were not honest to him plus he was hurt by your pranks..
don't worry if you did the right thing or not *which in my opinion is right*, it already happened and you can't turn back time..
just give your friend some time.. not all people can forgive just in a minute or two, some will take days, weeks, months or even years.. just think that he will come to you again because u are a honest person and u learn from what u did..

You had courage to disclose. Disclosure has a price. But, this says you could have the courage to not do it again. Or, it just identifies the kind of person you are. I think it is always good to disclose. You may be a bad person for pulling pranks, and the person may judge you are capable of pulling them again. However......you can prove him/her wrong. You did a brave thing. But, it takes courage to forgive. Starting with you, both sides have a very difficult job, and usually no one ever makes it that far. Honesty is the rough road, yes. Only time will tell, but this is the road forward. (The evil Dr. Laura would say, "Never tell. They'll never know." Man she's got to go.) btw - what did you do?

As much as it can suck sometimes. Honesty is usually the best way to go. In your case....you did the right thing. If he can't get over it then that's his problem...you did what you needed to do.

You lost a friend not because you chose to be honest but because you originally chose to be deceptive.

You can't take it back now. You did what you could and apologized. give him time. tell him when he's ready to forgive you you'll be there for him.
