Get your Dr to give you a note for your boss that says you MUST get up and walk around every hour. Then take a quick walk around your office space, and stretch as much as you can. You can get an exercise thing for at your desk that simulates pedaling a bike, and that way you can keep your legs moving. On your breaks, and lunches walk around your building if possible.

Stay away from those silly Ab belts, they are a scam.

While sitting at your desk, sit up straight, and hold your tummy in for a 5 count, let it out for 5, and hold it in for 5. Do this as much as possible. Also, clench your butt to the same count.

I had the same problem and the answer is not a nice one. You have to exercise before work, take a long walk in your lunch break and exercise after work again. Ab belts and other gimmicks don't really work, I have tried them before, if they did work there would be no over weight people in the world! The first few weeks are hard, but you have to push yourself, once you are in a routine you will never stop. Trust me I know, I lost 25kg in about 3 months, I feel much better, I also started playing Rugby again. The more exercise you do the better!! Good Luck.

Their maybe some exercise you can do whilst sitting at your desk at times throughout the day - also, take the opportunity to go for a walk or some form of exercise during the mornings, evenings or weekends. I would highly recommend the website: www.sparkpeople.com - they have articles and discussion forums and I've seen a few things about this particular issue of the office job! They are also completely free, although you do have to provide an email address and stuff when signing up to the website - hope it helps.

you need to make sure that you get plenty of exercise when you are NOT at work!! Yoga is an excellent way to keep the body toned when forced to be behind a desk all day. Also, I would definitely make sure to take a walk on your lunch break. Get away from the office and into the sunshine and walk. It will be good for your health and your spirit. Take a walk on your breaks, too. And no jars of M n' M's on your desk!!

Wow .... thats a million dollar question ... my dear if weight can be reduced just by sitting ADNAN SAMI wouldnt be there ...
Suggest you one thing... Get up early in the morning and go for a brisk walk for 40 mintutes followed by 20 mins of small exercises. This wont reduce your weight drastically but in due course of time will keep you fit.
Also control on your eating habits and dont eat too oily food.

Well you could go for a walk before u go to waork around the block and then do the same after if it is not too dark. Or every now and then you could breifly walk around your office during work. Or you coul go for a run. it works for me - I lost 1kg in 2 days. Eating lots of salads helps to reduce weight -m along with regular exersise that is. Seriously The walking works cuz my great nana is in good shape and she goes for a 5 kilometre walk every morning apart from when it is too cold or raining.

There are some exercises you can do- one idea is to get an exercise ball and to sit on that instead of a chair for part of the day. This will strengthen your core muscles and your legs. If you have to sit in a chair you can do leg lifts (wear ankle weights once they befome too easy, army circles (they seem easy at first but believe me after a couple minutes they get hard).

I'm going through the same problem as you. I sit for 9 hours a day and I am health conscious. I do alot of knee raises for my lower abs. I sit at the edge of my chair and bring my knees close to my chest. Another thing is I brought 10 lbs dumbbells that fit in my desk drawer. when I'm not doing anything I do a lot of arm exercises for my biceps and shoulders while sitting. Nothing too dramatic cos I do not want to draw too much attention to myself. Otherwise, I bring myself to the gym as much as I can.

yeah I know what u mean when I started at this company I gained 80lbs just by sitting you should take your lunch break and make it a wokout session if there's a gym closer to where you work try popping in there for a good workout at least 3 times a week oh and the ab belt should help as well

Can you walk around, like at your break or lunchtime? If not make it a habit to dedicate 1 hour five days a week for a walk after dinner, perhaps, get a dog if you have to, walk with your partner, the kids, a friend, get up and move~!
