When we pulled out last time, we left a functioning government intact. In this instance, we would be leaving a power vacuum that Iran could fill with their own brand of Muslim extremism.

We'll stick around for another 6 months and begin to draw down gradually while giving the Iraqi security forces achievable, but hard benchmarks. We'll do the best we can to support them, but the relationship will look more like S. Korea than Puerto Rico.

Why does it look like we are pulling out of Iraq? Because of the elections? Are you people that nieve. In case you haven't figured it out, the Dems said they could do it to get your votes, when it comes down to it, we will be there for a long time. Regardless of what was "promised".

Simple awnser: neither. In this type of unconventional war, there is no clear winner. Only a body count, and many broken families. If one thing was accomplished in Iraq, it was the shakey plantation of a stable, democratic government. So, one has to weigh the price that has been paid in order to set that nation free. the real question you should be asking is, "Was it worth it?", not weather or not we were victorious.

THe longer we stay there the more lifes, resources, money, people, and international support we loose. So is simple we win if we get OUT! NO ONE CAN CHANGE THAT COUNTRY. ITS AN IRAQUI JOB TO SHAPE AND BUILD THEIR COUNTRY THE BEST WAY IT FITS THEIR NEEDS. ITS NOT OUR BUSSINES TO BE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
