I believe that pit bulls should not even be considered a dog, or pet, but rather a wild animal! The thing about a pit bull is that it's not just it's instinctive ways to protect it's owner, but the true and scary fact is that they have a taste for blood and if they are hungry they may attack. That is the instinct of an animal, not a pet dog. It's funny you ask this question...there is this house on my street that I always walk past and they have a pit bull and so I'm always careful not to walk past if the gate is open. I was walking with my bro a week ago and the gate was open and so I told him I didn't wanna walk passed and he laughed at me. Just a few days later my friend's father walked past the same house, the pit bull ran out the house and jumped for him, biting his hands (which he had made into fists because he saw it coming) and then after being kicked by my friend's father, it ran back inside. He had done nothing provoking and all he did was walk passed the house! They are vicious animals and I would never keep one in my house! I'd rather buy myself a cheetah which is called a wild animal yet has no taste for the human being!

The Pit Bull is bred specifically for it's violence and ferocity ,,,, The true Pit Bull breeder carefully monitors the blood line of each dog they work with and it's history ,,,,They keep detailed charts for each of their animals genetics and ancestory ,,,, Part of the method for making them ferocious along with periodic injections of drugs is their inbreeding to something like the second or third generation ,,,, Something like grand son to grand mother or niece and nephew to aunt and uncle or what ever combintaion it takes ,,,,, I'm not exactly sure what the specifics are but I do know it involves the inbreeding of family members of the same blood line ,,,, to other family members of the same family ,,,, The more ferocious the animal the more valuable he is ,,,, Some people will pay thousands for these animals ,,,, That's why people get into the business ,,,, But believe this ,,,,, Any dog with any amout of Pit Bull in it's ancestory is potentially dangerous ,,,,,, And yes I know that there are people that swear up one side and down the other that their dog wouldn't hurt a fly ,,,,, but they say that only until the dog turns on them or a family member with out any known provocation ,,,,, And it's a documented fact that these so called family pets have turned on children in the family too ,,,, I've read more than one account where a Pit Bull had to be put down because it literally ate the face off of a three year old child ,,,, If you have a family with toddlers would you really want to take the risk of owning one ? ,,,, There is no practical reason why anyone should want to own them except gaming people that want their dog for the fighting pit alone ,,,, For some people it's simply a head trip or a status symbol to have one ,,,, Others purchase them with the idea of them being some kind of a security asset for the home ,,,, This breed of animal has no practical purpose and the breeding of them should be out lawed ,,,, Owning one is as insane as the reasons why anyone would want one in the first place ,,,, You don't have to take my word for it ,,,, Look at the history of the breed and the purpose for breeding them in the first place ,,,, Pit Bull and Cockfighting is against the law in the US but it goes on anyway ,,,, It's legal and prevelent in Mexico and South America and other foreign countries though,,,,, I certainly hope you aren't contemplating getting one ,,,, As others have been ,,,,, you'll eventually be sorry ,,,, Yoda said this ,,,,,

Pit Bulls can be great dogs. I have had mine for 8 years. I also have two little girls that were born with him at home. They actually used to ride him before he recently got sick from old age, he is 11. I have had a few other Pits in my life and I haven't had any violence problems besides with other dogs. Pits were originally bred for fighting, so yes they can have a violent tendency. Its all about the love and time you put into them when they are young.

A pit bull is just like any other pet, if the owner will show love and kindness to the animal and have him meet other animals at the park etc, to socialize from little on he will be a good dog. A dog reflects their owners philosophy, violent owner, violent dog.

Pit bulls are no different than any other dog in how you treat them. They have a fighting instinct more so than any other dog but it has to be brought out to make them aggressive if you treat the dog right then you should not have any problems with it.

All you need to do is read the papers. Pt Bulls kill and maim more people than ANY other breed. It isnt about how you raise a dog that is by nature instintive to kill. They are wose than wolves and in most states it is illegal to own a wolf. They should be outlawed and brought to extinction!! And for that matter, so shjould most of the idiots who own them!!

Indeed they are. This breed is agressive to begin with, and people goad them in being more violent to make better bodyguard/watchdogs out of them, and this is like holding 6 sticks of dynamite in your hand with a lit 2" fuse.
