Dear Genius,

Religious beliefs ought to be based on #1- believing something to be true-- although i qualify that statement by saying you must have a solid basis for what you believe.

Just because we believe something doesn't make it true- but if we have a basis for why it is the truth...

Christians for example base their faith on the Word of God- the Bible.

That makes #1 and #2 seperable, because for example God has set certain holy standards. If we believe God has set these standards for our good-- we believe God at His word. Wanting something to be true in this case becomes irrelavent because it is recognized that what God says is truthful --- even if i may not particularly like that.

Example of all this: That makes a difference between conviction and opinion. I believe gravity is true-- based on solid evidence... not just because i believe it to be true. i want to fly (just because you want to doesn't mean that you can).

Hope that helps,

Nickster

Christainity is:
1. believing in the heart that Jesus is the Son of God and Savior.
2. experiencing the power and life of Jesus flowing on us, in us and through us.
Believing in Jesus must lead us experiencing Him in very tangible ways in our lives.
Belief and experience are part of the package. It is not a matter so much of wanting but rather having.

#1. Our own wants never enter into the equation of religious belief. If my wants were included, I would want a lot of things that may not necessarily be in the best interest of anyone including myself.

none of that........
I don't think that is a good combination..
Belief is based on the word of God, The Holy Bible
Jehovah God, the creator of all living things and his only begotten son
Jesus The Christ, the Messiah
From the beginning to the end of the word of God is life and life more abundantly.............
The only thing that is inseparable is God and his word and me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
