typical answers wud be like to impose a tighter limit on greenhouse emissions, or to pass laws for vehicles to be fitted with catalytic converters, or to indulge in more greenery to maximise intake of CO2 by plants, and so on.
things like banning cigarettes or cutting down on cars are not exactly viable options as even though cigarettes are demerit goods they will still be in demand for n the government cant just ban them. for cars implementing COE and all hasnt really worked that effectively in curbing the number as a car is more than just a travel aide.
some alternatives may be to research and develop new areas of technology that can minimise air pollution. such as hybrid cars or "green" cars that use alternative energy sources or use minimal fuel.
im sure u can find more information online but u gotta remember to check its credibility.
