I just bought a Shih Tzu on Friday and took him to the vet today, he now weighs 4 lbs. 8 oz. and is 11 weeks old. Does anyone know or have an idea of how big this baby will be? Mom is 7 lbs. and Dad is 9 lbs.

Most pups will be an average of the weights ant heights of their parents. Your pup will most likely grow to be about 8 lbs. Although, sometimes it may suprise you how pups turn out. I once bred my poodles and the pups ended being twice as big as the parents when they were fully grown

Shih Tzus typically top out at about 15-20 lb but some pets are heavier than this. (Sorry, don't have the breed standard handy.) It sounds like this guy may get to about 12 lb or so but it's almost impossible to predict with certainty.

According to the AKC, the weight of mature dogs is 9-16 pounds. He's already over halfway to his dad's weight at 11 weeks so I'd guess probably a little heavier than his dad. I wouldn't think more than 10-12 pounds, though.

i would say about 7 or 8 lbs. It wouldn't be much bigger than mom or dad, they never are.

Its a little too soon to tell, other than he will likely be no larger than dad.
