A good rule of thumb:

The diagonal dimension of the TV should measure

between ¼ and ½ the distance of your seating position.

Depends on Your room Size and where the Unit will be sighted.
The Size of screen is Normally Multiplied By 4 to obtain the Best Viewing.(i.e 32 Inch screen x4 = 128 inches seated away from the screen for the best View)

I spent 2 Months researching and Decided to go with LCD!

The Picture Clarity is far superior to that of a Plasma!.
The Panasonic VIERA Range of LCD TVs is way-ahead of the competition and Has 2 HDMI Inputs as well as 5 Years technology Built in.
The size of my room dictates that a 32 Inch would be More than adequate and I am very happy !
I went to a small Chain of retailers who provided me with the Best price,Installation and After service guarantee!(5 year Guarantee-For FREE!)
Not that there are problems (Long Term) with LCD.
Current run time is around 200,000 Hours and No Screen Burn-Unlike Plasma which is prone to this!

Anything smaller than 45" is too small. With a widescreen aspect ratio, a 16:9 45" TV is really like a 36" 4:3. Also don't go with a rear projection, as it viewing angle and brightness gets worse as the size goes up. lcd tvs are cheap!
