Explain your problem to the vet. Ask if they can work out some way for you to make payments over time. I think a good vet wouldn't let a dog suffer. Or, I live in Merced, and have a good vet, Give me a call tomorrow after noon and I'll see if I can find some way to help you. The number is 209 722 2992 and ask for casey------.I should have mentioned Casey is a 70 year old lady. I called my vet and she charges $45.00 and if she needs to do the disposal, she charges by the pound, so I assume the cost would be pretty much the same in Modesto. Let me know if you still need some help. when my 18 year old dog was put down, I brought her home and tried to bury her in the backyard under the tree she loved to rest under but I hit hardpan so when my husband came home he found me sitting under the tree holding my dead dog and sobbing. He found a softer spot under the tree and that's where she is today. well, it's making me cry just to be telling you this.

Wow Tracy, I'm sorry, I know what you are going through. Maybe the animal shelter knows of a community group who will help with this. Sometimes, in some communities, there are groups like "Friends of Animals" who will chip in or pick up the cost.

Wish I had a better suggestion for you. Keep your chin up.

Some shelters will cut their fees or offer payment plans when they see that the owner of the animal really cares. They could also probably let you know of some organizations that can help.

Sorry to hear that. When my dog died, it broke my heart. Nothing can fill that hole in your life but it will get better eventually.

God I'm so emotional right now, wow it's midnight didn't notice that...A woman on her asked why her fish died for no reason and I got teary eyed, yours make me almost burst into tears, but yeah check with p.a.w.s like the girl above me said, my friend used them when her dog was put down and it was cheap. My heart goes out to you!

Iam so sorry to hear about your dog. My dog has cancer too, but so far seems to be relatively pain free and still seems happy and gets around well, but I know that too soon, I will face what you are, so my heart goes out toyou.

Often, a local vet or animal shelter will help in a situation such as yours for no fee, so please call around. good luck!

check into the P.A.W.S. organization in your area, also contact the humane society. they have vets who do contract work for them. they might ask you to do some volunteer work in exchange for the cost of the euthanasia solution... which is cheap. you might even call some vets and ask if they will take payments...it shouldn't cost too much...under $30 for the injection. the larger cost is disposing of the pet's remains. you can avoid that by insisting on burying you pet at home. best of luck to you.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I had many relatives die of cancer. Try to do a second job or find a vet that will do it for free.

SPCA and animal control will do it either free or low cost. They will let you be with her too if you want, call and ask.
Sorry, for your troubles. It's very sad to lose a friend.
