they are from trees and come in full branches almost. they are round balls with a thin green shell covering. you peel of the covering and inside is a somewhat mushy (eye looking) yellowish whitish fruit. you simply put it in your mouth and suck until you get to the seed. they are so amazing. i had them when i was in the dominican republic. does anyone know the right spelling of these? or even better, does anyone know where i can get these... like order them, buy htem at a store. idk.

From what you describe this may be what you are talking about.

Pawpaw belongs to the Annonaceae, or Custard Apple Family. It is the only temperate member of a tropical family which includes such delicious fruits as cherimoya, sweetsop and soursop. With a flavor comparable to bananas or mangoes, the pawpaw can be eaten fresh, preserved in jelly, or as an ingredient in ice cream or pudding. According to Horticulture, "worldwide connoisseurs chose the fruit as one of the six most delicious in the world."
I've also heard it referred to as Cherimoya.

I guess the names of the fruits changes according to the country, in some places is called "mamoncillo" here in México is called "huaya" http://www.yucatan.com.mx/especiales/productos_yucatecos/fotos/huaya_buena.jpg I dont think you can get them on the stores unless you live in a tropical area, and im pretty sure they can ge very expensive. We eat them here out of the trees and with some lemon, salt and chili powder.
