Has anyone ever been asked to leave for breastfeeding in public? i just found out that my state has finally passed a law protecting the right of a woman to breastfeed her child in public. I am writing letters to local and state legislators trying to get mothers lounges and family bathrooms put in stores etc. Anyone have and stories about this?

In my state, it is illegal to tell a woman to stop breastfeeding. According to our penal codes, indecent exposure only applies to genitals and anus. You might want to look into LaLeche League, that is pretty much the standard place to go for breastfeeding information. Breastfeeding women have more rights than they know about usually. I plan to breastfeed, and I absolutely will NOT feed my child in a little closet or a public bathroom.

If breastfeeding in public may be banned then so would desire to all human beings ingesting in public!! Hell breastfeeding is extra organic then those shoes you have on your feet! i think of it somewhat is disgusting that breastfeeding is even observed in this variety of vogue!! So what? There would be fashions exhibiting there bits and bobs yet a mom feeding her baby is faulty? So unwell

no one has had the nerve to even give me a cross look for nursing in public. Its really terrible to do this to a new mother. I have actually found new mothers nursing in restrooms with newborn babies. I don't even like walking in public bathrooms. I surely wouldn't want to have dinner in one.
Nursing rooms for mothers would be wonderful! I would have went out more with my babies if those would've been more accessible. New mothers should take the time and money to buy the nursing shirts/bras from motherwear also. They are worth every penny.

Most women are shy to breastfeed in public because they think it is an indescent exposure.Come to my country and see how new mothers happily breastfeed babies even at the bus stops.Let your baby cry and ignore her, someone will prompt you to give your baby breastmilk. After all,the breastmilk will not be used in any meal at home. Even most men careless about a nursing mother's breast..Babies must not suffer for any shyness.

Hi Merlin, Women should have the right to breast feel in public. This is a natural thing to do. It's usually the old dry up old ladies who have problems with this.I give you 3 thumbs up for trying to help these mothers out.

I have always been discreat, not because of what other people may think but rather because I am shy that way, but I love stores like neimens & norstroms that have "mothers lounges" it makes it easier. I have been told off a few times , all the people told me to feed my baby in the bathroom to which I reply ...do you eat your meals on a toilet seat, at which point theyshut there mouth.. Thanks for all the work you are doing,

I think that breastfeeding is a fundamental right of all mothers and govt./corporates should respect that and make provisions in all public places to ensure that women enjoy this right with a dignity.

It's illegal to tell a woman to stop breastfeeding? What, someone up and changed the First Amendment and didn't tell anyone?
And, I'm sorry, but getting the legislatures to force stores to put in mother's lounges, etc. is more of the same activistic crap that has put this country in a quagmire of red tape. If you want to breastfeed in public, just be discreet about it and no one's going to give a crap.
