I doubt it. There is a long tradition of Christian intellectualism (just ask the Jesuits). Read contemporary theological commentators like Spong and Borg and try to suggest that they're in possession of low IQs. Personally, I'm religious and hold a doctorate, something not generally awarded to idiots. Of course, I also know some very intelligent atheists...as well as a few prize-winning morons of that persusion. There are both bright and ignorant people from both camps, believing and non-believing.

In a survey of undergraduates in three states more than half said they were creationists and one-third or more believed in ghosts, communication with the dead, extraterrestrials, aliens, Big Foot, etc. The prevalence of such pseudoscientific beliefs is an indictment of current science-education practices, which seem less effective than education via supermarket tabloids. The survey also revealed that those who accepted creationism were less likely to read books and had lower grade-point averages than the noncreationists. What that may mean is not altogether clear, but at the least it suggests an anti-intellectual suspicion of knowledge on the part of those sympathetic to creationism.

There is actually a website which tries to argue that non-religious people are smarter than religious people, and that this should be a valid criterion for determining the truth! This is such an amusing argument, because to argue it is to demonstrate the opposite of the case. It's really just an appeal to authority, and is aimed at bolstering the fragile ego of certain atheist types, and to dismiss thinking so that one need not engage in such a messy pursuit.

very much so....
nearly 60% of Theist College Students theorize that Mankind made the dinosaurs go extinct.
mankind = 7 million years ago(roughly)
dinosaurs=(went extinct 250 million years ago)
That should be compelling evidence, yet still 60% think man and beast existed together. Without the bible we would have much more knowledge of things such as this.
