It could be breakage. Did you know that every single hair on your head will fall out? Over 100 hairs fall out everyday, and new ones grow back. These strays you are seeing, could just be some new hairs growing. If they are bothersome, use some spray like anti frizz, or some gel. The longer they get, the more they will lay down. They get heavier when they are longer, and will lay down soon.

I grow my hair and donate it when I have at least 12 inches to lose. A few months ago, I noticed I had that happen. I have no idea why cause I don't use the elastic pony tail holders or anything to cause that weird break. It eventually stopped and they grew a little and laid down and it wasn't a problem anymore. While they stuck up, I'd wet them a little when I was doing my hair so they'd go down.

If it's breakage (you can tell but how much you brush out); buy a conditioner to strengthen hair. It might not be though! I have very long hair too! I get them sometimes but it's not breakage. It's just new hair growing!

our hair has cycles just like you'd see an animal.. in winter we tend to thicken up and in summer shed more.. its just natural.. so probably your hair is thickening up for winter now.. I know I get more strays this time of year.. I wouldnt call it breakage.. Mine I see more at the edge of my hair line.. I use a little spray to hold them down..

It's definately breakage and the best way to prevent it from happening is to NEVER ever brush your hair when it's wet, less blowdrying always helps. To top it off I would suggest Biosilk its a silkening treatment for your hair that makes it stronger and adds shine

don't brush or comb wet hair.
no clips or rubber bands.
If you decide to ever cut it consider
