I know this is an opportunity to quit etc..however, what is the earliest time that I can safely go back to smoking? I'd really appreciate any non-judgemental answers.
Thanks.

You can go back to smoking cigarettes in about a week to 10 days. THe best thing to do is get patches to help you "wait it out".
I have recomended patches to others having to wait out things such as this and its worked wonders for them. Good luck and don;t worry you'll be back on cigarettes soon.

24 hours is the least time to wait, but if u could wait longer then thats brilliant, the reason u are told to not smoke is to prevent dry socket, which is inflammation of the bone lining, i speak from experience and professionally here, when i say you do not want that it is extremely painful ( although not dangerous ) try and lay of the ciggies for as long as possible and well done for listening to the dentist....
best of luck

when i had my molar extracted i was told to wait 24 hours to prevent the possibility of "dry socket". i too should have capitalized on the opportunity to quit, but the patch just did't help
me enough. ( plus they are hard to light ... lol)

seriously, wait at least 24 hrs. i understand that oral surgery is in order for dry socket.
