I have a friend they moved to this state about a year ago. Well her boyfriend has been fighting some charges from there home state conneticut for a few months and finally just gave up and pleaded guilty to (i think) having a gun in the car and im not sure but i think drug charges also. So they gave him 3 yrs but has to serve it in a prison in connecticut. so he's telling the girlfriend (my friend) that he has to go fly back 2 times before he actually goes to jail for some kind of mental evaluation. I dont buy this and neither does she, but neither of us are very familar to the whole process of going to jail. Does this really happen or does something smell fishy. He does have a kid up there, but he hasnt seen the kid in like 3 yrs but i still think something isnt right...any thoughts???

Mental evaluation? For what? When they sentence you, they usually take you into custody right away. I don't understand why they would let him out and let him leave the state. Doesn't seem right. I think he's lying

Never been to jail, but I'm pretty sure if they give you jail time you go right to jail, I think he is pulling your friends leg. I doubt he's going to see his child, if he hasn't worried about it all this time then why would he care now? And if he can turn his back on his own child so easily, why wouldn't he turn it on her or anyone else. I hope for your friends sake she tells him where to get off, he's a loser and really bad news. By the way 3 years does not sound right for gun and or drug charges. Always remember if it doesn't seem right it usually isn't.

mixed: Tell your friend to run for the hills concerning this guy. He spells TROUBLE - BIG time !!! His life is one of covert lies and deceit. His going to jail very well maybe true but why is he not now, in custody ? He is committing a felony by leaving the State of Conn. !!! He sounds like a real loser and is trying to spread it [loser disease] around to your girlfriend. She can do better than a career criminal, I'm sure !!! Better still; tell your girlfriend to speak with his ex about him.

I think that he's lying, because if he did what he did then they would've took him to jail.

She needs to leave him in jail and work on her self-esteem - she does not need to put her life on hold.
