Any good moisturizer with vitamin E will provide some help, but if the scars are deep or noticeable you probably need something designed to heal scars.

Scar tissue is a collection of collagen fibers (a strong protein) used to mend skin. Sometimes these fibers align nearly straight and you get barely noticeable little flecks, other times the fibers arrange in a snarled knot resulting in thick, raised, keloid scars.

I've had really good luck with a product called Merderma; it's specifically for scar removal. It's a little pricey, around $20 a tube, but you can get it without a prescription at most pharmacies. Look around at bigger stores like CVS or Walgreens and you might be able to find a generic with the same ingredients for less money. A little dab of this 2-5 times a day and you'll notice the scars fading in as little as a week. Best of all, it's completely painless.

I had some very obvious, deep (full thickness through the subcutaneous layer) burn scars on about 20% of my left arm and now they're only barely visible. You obviously want to make sure you're completely healed before starting this and read the package insert for more details.

If that doesn't work, consult with a dermatologist, they would be able to recommend some either stronger topical solutions or surgical scar removal if necessary.

Good luck,

You can get skin lightener from a dermatologist or you can try microdermabrasion treatments. They are very painless. They take away a layer of skin cells each time you have the treatment done to get away to where the good skin finally is. I would go to a dermatologist first and see what they recommend, because micro may not be the best answer for you. Whatever you do don't buy any over the counter. Sometimes those treatments make it worse than you think. Seeking professional advice is always best. I am speaking from experience. I am a medium complexioned African American, and I suffered from acne growing up. My skin is healthy now. Thanks to retine and other treatments recommended by my doctor. Don't cover it up. It will always be there after the make-up is gone. The best thing is to work on getting a healthy complexion. Good luck!

Massage your face with a little Shea Butter.
Shea Butter helps reduce premature facial lines, dark spots, marks, minor scars, chapped lips, blemishes & bumps. Shea Butter also helps to maintain moisture & skin softness.
Shea Butter is 100% natural so it can be used daily or whenever needed.
