I had a friend who lived with me for several years. He was paying some of the bills (or so I thought) and was supposed to be holding up his responsibiliites. However he moved out all of a sudden last week taking every piece of paper with his name on it that connected him to his part of the house. He has left me with a mortgage that i cannot pay for and the police are telling me that their is nothing they can do because it is considered nothing more than a breach of trust. I am going to lose the house and will have to put it up for rent. Is their anything else I can do to get myself out of this hell that I am now in?

If you can't come up with all the mortgage you are left with no other options. If you and him are both on the title...you have to change that and get only your name on it if you will be the only one paying for it....sorry......good luck... :(

Criminally, your friend did nothing wrong so the police can't help you. The best thing you can do is gather all the paperwork concerning the house and contact a civil lawyer. If the house is in your name only then you may just be out of luck though.

Well , he has papers - you should have papers! You probably will have to go to court. The police actually couldn't do anything cause it's a civil matter and they can't get involved with those , but a court can. As a last resort (emergency) , you may have to file bankruptcy, that will ensure you keep your property.

That is a civil issue that needs to be taken care of in Civil Court.....i would get on that ASAP though....before he has time to get far away!
