Jesus called for the reformation of Judaism of the time. To him Judaism was being too heavily influenced by the Roman empire, and when he openly spoke out against it during passover (flipping the merchant's tables etc.), the roman empire saw him as a threat... Jesus ( during his time) was not necessarily viewed as the son of God... just a disrupter.

That's what he was born for!!!!!!! The Old Testament told what he would go through and why.... Read it educate your self instead of trying to find answers on yahoo and leaning on your own understanding. Just think and wonder if there is a God and all he wanted you to do was believe and do his will which is simply to help and love all mankind and believe in his son Jesus Christ and all you did was doubt, not believe, question and do nothing to find out your purpose, or help God's people (because believe it or not we are all his people and he loves us all, yes even you), how will you answer when he is ready to judge you according to your works and all you have to show for it is a bunch of unanswered questions? What will you say when you are asked what did you do to fulfill your purpose here? Oh wait let me guess it doesn't matter because you were put here to serve your own purpose, there is no creator, No God no supernatural-being responsible for your existence, your only purpose in life is to enjoy it and everything is about you.....

Because He invalidated the Jewish priests of the time. They had grown wealthy by exploiting others and stood as the "middle men" between the Jewish people and God. When Christ came He taught that no middle man was needed. This infuriated the Jewish leaders.

Also, Jesus had quite a large Jewish following. They wanted to make Him king. This is why the leaders arrested Him at night.

Blessed Be

there were people who would have defended him, but they couldn't really do anything against pontius pilate, who was the guy in power. he was chummy and full of love, but no one believed what he was saying, and his friends and people that turned against him were tempted by satan. but then when he finally rose from the dead, everyone saw that he was telling the truth all along.

His main purpose was to come to earth...teach others about God and die.
He had to die for our sins.
He was a perfect man as was Adam was a perfect man...Adam lost everlasting life for mankind..Jesus bought it back with his life.

He had to die but he died with friends and the love of the ones he had spoken to with his message.and the love of his relatives.
The jews turned against him because he challenged the law covenant...he showed them that he was the law fulfilled.....but they wouldn't believe him. They were looking for a human king to take over and he came as a lamb.
Their fear of the romans made them turn against jesus and honor the king...they called for his death thinking he was a blasphemer

Same reason MLK was executed - people who rule by brainwashing and intimidation cannot tolerate peaceful resistance and acting out of love for our fellow man.

Because Jesus told the Truth to those people, and they did not like it.
