Do you feel bad about Lettuce, carrots, apples, tomatoes? Those all either get ripped from a tree, or yanked from the ground. I can not fathom why people come into the HUNTING section and ask these questions. You, do not like hunting, fine. You like lettuce fine. I hunt not because of the animal but because when I am in the woods I am at peace with nature. The one place every human being came from. We did not always live in nice houses and drive fancy cars. Have all our meats and veggies pre-packed on a shelf to buy and consume at our leisure.

Seriously, why must people insist hunting is BAD? Humans hunt Humans everyday: Drive-bys, WAR, shoot-outs. Quit being so picky over animals your argument over "if it has a family" Hell all deer have families. That is just nuts.

No, it does not touch me...well, in a negative way YES.

See, my upcoming post in the Veggie Forum on:

Do you kill Plants? But the seeds are all a family! They come in a cute little pre-packaged bag. They are close nit laying so peacefully next to each other just growing and growing being content in the sunshine. Enjoying their day. Then, they get up rooted, tore from the ground., never to live again, to be consumed by humans or tossed aside because it is not good enough to be consumed.....

PLEASE!!!! now go away
You people annoy me: I think your TOFU is ready

I'm sorry you feel this way steph. Animals do kill people, Steph. A Brown Recluse spider killed a classmate of mine a couple of years ago. All he was doing was moving hay bales from his barn to feed his horses.

What do you think old, sick predators stalk for food? Man. Because we are relatively weak, thin-skinned, claw-less, fangless and slow because we are biped.

Do you wear shoes Steph? How about belts? Does your car have leather upholstery? Where do you think the leather for these products comes from?

Have you ever encountered a Texas size rattlesnake? Or a Cottonmouth? Or an alligator or American Crocodile? How about a shark? Do you know that there is a freshwater lake in Nicaragua where more shark attacks on humans occur than anywhere else in the world?

Do you know that two teenagers were bitten by rabid bats in Houston, TX. in two seperate incidents? One of the teenagers died.

One year I was hunting Whitetail deer (for the venison) and I observed a record-size Bobcat stalking a couple of Peccary (Javalinas) with their young. The cat was but thirty yards away and a very easy target for my deer rifle. I watched the cat and piglets for more than twenty minutes. The cat never attacked the piglets because it was afraid of the mother sows. The cat was perfect and trophy class, but I did not shoot it. Why? I wasn't going to eat the cat and I couldn't afford to have it mounted. I wasn't going to kill it just for the hide because I believe that would have been wrong. So I let the cat live. Guess what happened the very next morning? That same Bobcat almost caused me grievous bodily injury or even death. If I'd had my handgun with me that morning I would have shot it dead.

This giant Bobcat attempted to get into my shooting blind. I could not manuever my .25-06 Remington (24" barrel) within the confines of my blind for a shot and I'd left my Colt Python in my cabin because I didn't want to carry extra weight. It was before daybreak when something rocked my blind. Then I heard claws digging into wood as it climbed up. As the Bobcat leapt in the open window I turned on my flashlight. The cat changed directions in mid-air and fled into the night. Believe me, at that moment I didn't think that the cat could have had kittens that it needed to eat to survive or anything. I only knew that one of us was going to have to vacate the blind and I would have been scratched, perhaps blinded, mained, bit and if I jumped I would have probably broken my neck. Although I am the lawful owner of the land we were on and the lawful owner of the shooting blind we were in, I will concede that the Bobcat had as much right to be there as I did--JUST NOT AT THE SAME TIME!

In closing let me say that anyone who kills things--anything, trees, people, animals--just for fun is warped. Otherwise it comes down to survival. We herd lifestock into slaughterhouses so that we may have food to eat and people can buy their meat pre-packaged and not be offended. The same thing for other products we use everyday: leather, fertilizer, etc.

Don't take things so hard Steph; life is a struggle and life/death is the natural order of things. Final note: Good hunters police each other. We report poachers. Also, I don't allow anyone to hunt on my land who is not shooting game for food. My #1 rule is: if you're not gonna eat it, leave it alone and don't shoot it unless it is dangerous. I won't even let them shoot non-venomous snakes.

I can understand your feelings, but there is a cycle that life has to travel in the animal world. I am a hunter and no I don't hunt for the sport of it. I take only what Myself and my family can eat. I was raised this way on a farm. God placed animals here for us to furnish our families with food........yes I am very aware that there are grocery stores around and there are other things to eat than meat. The life cycle play a big part in keeping the population of animals to a certain estimated number. If the animals that we hunt get over populated then they become sick and die usually infecting the "family" they have with a disease that eventually kills them off. Just like the cycle of life for humans. Do you really think the government doesn't have a cure for aids, cancer or other disease. its our government way of controlling the population of our country......now do the right thing and go hug a tree and ask for forgiveness for writing letters on its sister or throwing its mother in the trash after you have gotten your frozen vegetable entree out of it.

You said that animals don't kill...explain to me what a carnivore is. All carnivorous animals kill, humans included. What about cows, pigs, chickens, fish, turkey, and lobster? These animals have it far worse than a deer that I kill. Also most wild animals never know their father and part from their mothers after they are done nursing. So family isn't an issue to them, some will even eat their young.

i don't feel a bit sad or bad deers don't have kids they have fawns which turn into deer and as for there food they don't buy it your just stupid I'll hunt until the day i die and my kids hunt. how much money have you gave to wildlife conservation i pay hundreds of dollars very year to take care of wildlife when you kill a deer you are insuring that the rest don't starve someone has to kill the food you eat.it just makes you feel better to ***** about them being hunted and killed no one ask you to like it but before you post a question get educated and quit living in a fantasy world

Hunting IS wildlife conservation, PERIOD! I don't hunt as much as I should, but understand the necessity. The hunting community has more compassion for the animals they take than most people who don't hunt will ever know. It's not about being out just to kill something. It's about making sure these wonderful animals are still around for our children to enjoy as much as we have. Please educate yourself. Go to a hunters education course. You will then get a glimpse of what it's about.

If animals weren't hunted (and I'm talking legally) then there wouldn't be enough food for their population throughout the winter. Will you feel better when Bambi is starving to death??
