A question was posed earlier "Can you prove God exists" In the details of the question the asker said"

"And those of you who claim look around that doesn't prove God did it, I want proof not your belief."

Let me answer this question with another question. Can one prove the wind exists?

You cannot see it. But you can deduce that it exists by observing it's effect on the physical world around you. You can see your hair move as the wind blows through it. You can see the leaves move. You can feel the temperature drop. From observing all it's effects you can then say " I believe that wind exists" even though you cannot touch it, hold it, or even paint it purple.

Why should you accept that the wind exists based upon observation and not be willing to allow a Christian to use the same reasoning in explanation of why he believes that God exists by observing His effect on the world around us. Not saying that this proves He exists but at least be consistent.

Honestly...it doesn't sound like you really wanted this question to be answered.

But you have a point, a very good one. I don't think anyone can actually prove that God truly exists...but then again, no one can really prove that he doesn't exist either. People can debate about it all they want, it's something we'll all eventually find out about when we die, right? It just really bites the big one to wait that long(depending on who you are....who knows, the wait may be short).

(If anyone can prove that God exists...please, I'd like to hear it...but I want actual proof, NOT FAITH! And if anyone can DISprove that God exists, I'd also like to know this as well...as would many others I'm sure...)

You realize that these are two very different standards for credibility of evidence, right?

We understand what wind is. It is pressure waves through a gaseous medium. There is a highly developed theory of physics that describes the behavior of such waves in great detail. Furthermore, we have instruments that make recordings of wind that are consistent with both the theory and anyone's experience of the wind.

We don't understand what God is. There is huge disagreement between different God believers of what God is. The Bible puts forth one explanation of what God is, but the explanation is problematic at many levels. It is internally inconsistent, and it makes claims about the world that are known to be false. Finally, there is no way to make a instrument to record the effects of God. The only "instrument" that God believers have is their own emotional sense. But the claims that God believers make about their emotional experience of God are nearly indistinguishable from the claims that are made in other cases that are commonly considered to be other kinds of delusions or hysteria, or indeed psychosis.

Yeah but you can physically feel the wind......I've never felt the physical touch of God, or heard the voice of God, or seen God. Although we can't see the wind, we know it's there. We can measure it (the speed, direction, etc.), we can feel it, and we can hear it. We can't predict God's movements, his location, or anything. We can't hear him or feel him. God is a faith based BELIEF, not proof of anything. If that's what you choose to believe then believe it, just leave us "heathens" alone.

We can measure wind, feel it on out face, see the force it has when knocking a tree down.

To a believer there does not need to be proof, to a non-believer there would never be enough proof. Be what you are, enjoy it, be kind and be happy with who you are, whether others agree with you or not.

This form of thinking could lead to a stagnation in deductive reasoning and problem solving skills. You should use caution if you are going to engage in this type of thought process as a way to conform to this type of religious theology.

Because "god" does not have ANY effects that cannot be explained in other, more proveable ways.
