well that is the saying and the one i go by now is i ask the lord if he is for me keep him in my heart and if he isn't take him out. there was a guy i was in love with and we went through so many things from him cheating and just doing whatever. we argued and even fought once (nothing serious) and the worse one when he cheated he had a baby so you know i was devastated. so i use to be so scared to let him go because i was afraid he would not come back to me but i always remembered let him go and he is meant for me then he will be back and if he stay away after he strayed then God has someone better for me. and sometime we as females and guys have to know what we have after its gone. you know thats is why they say that cause they never miss you or realize what was what until you bus up. anyway he left and came back but that still doesn't he is yours just for the time being

When I went to college I was very serious about this lady who was going to be going to another college... we had to decide whether or not to change one of our lives and transfer to one or the others school. We decided that we were too young to do this and that we would try to keep our relationship going even though we would be apart for months at a time... We both knew that there was a chance that it would fail and it did. We kept together for about 8 months... I had met a couple of women that were making it difficult for me to stay true and when I called my girlfriend to talk to her about it she had been going through the same thing... we got together one last weekend to kind of say good bye to each other and end things... We met by chance in our hometown just after graduation, we were both single and really clicked, fell back into place, and we married. It worked out strangely, but really well... it was like we both got to be on our own long enough to realize that we had it good already. I have to say to you that our families have been friends for two generations and there was some pressure for us to remain a couple... so that probably did help to bring us back together... Good Luck to you.

You only seem curious because you want to hear something that you can relate to, or make you hopeful. It did happen to me, but when Eric came back to me I did not feel the same way about him. We dated for almost a year and he wanted to marry. I was only 19. He broke up with me the next day, I was crushed. He came back 3 years later, we tried to make a go of it, my heart was not there. Yes I cried for him never thought I could get over him. I sure did. Maybe in time you will feel the same.

Yes, you set them free, and don't worry about how long it takes, just move on. When you move on and they see you doing it, they will come back. Or if they don't you will already have other things going for you. Whatever you do don't keep calling the other person. That will drive them farther away.

Yes it happened to me. it wasn't by choice though.
I was married for about 10 years when my wife thought the grass might be greener on the other side, so I boldly told her if that is what you want then go, after about two weeks she realized that she had made a big mistake. And begged me to come home

Yes I freaked out one time at my b/fs cousins wedding (I drank far too much and revealed a deep dark secret from our relationship to his family-about us) and we broke off our engagement. I moved out the next day. After a week I got a phone call at my friends house and he asked me to go for dinner to talk-I thought he was going to ask for the ring back but it turns out he asked for me to come back.

Please allow me to answer your question with a question of my own. What if the person that was set free DID NOT want to want to be set free? I've been in that boat more times than I care to count.
