No it's not illegal. There needs to be a 4 year age difference before it becomes illegal.

Charles Thomas, a Valley defense attorney, said Arizona's age of consent is 18 and all sex acts involving people below that age are illegal, consensual or not.
The law treats sex acts with 15-, 16-, and 17-year-olds as statutory rape, while sex acts with children 14 or younger carry much harsher sentences.
That is Arizona's law. You can usually get around these things as long as no one says anything. And, since you've started a relationship with him when he was a minor, that might help. If your going to sex, just be careful about pregnancy, I'm a single parent of 5 kids, I'm 34 ( yes, they are all by the same father) and its hard. your only going to be 16, just please be careful

It is illegal, but only if you two are having sex. I looked it up, so you guys...if you really love each other should wait to do that. Heck, you should wait anyway. In this day and age it is hard to find a job with a High School diploma, eventually a college degree is going to be a necessity to work at McDonald's. I would focus on my education rather that get myself into trouble, which you two may end up doing.

I don't think so... The age of consent in CA is 18. But don't worry about it. He'll only get in trouble if your parents complain about it.
When I was 15 I dated a 20 year old for 2 years (in WA the age is 16) and no one ever said anything.
Bo to my source below for more info.

it's only illegal if you engage in sexual intercourse. dating is fine, and the age gap between you two isn't really that big to send up any alarm flags or anything. i'd be more concerned for a 15 year old girl dating a 21-22 year old guy (or older).

yes it is the age of consent law is 16 your bf could be prosecuted just for sitting on your bed and you have your shoes off it really depends a lot on your parents as well they could cause him trouble if they don't like him.....One other thing could make a big difference is he still in high school? If he is then your safe for the time being if not forget it

I believe he could be convicted for statuatory rape. You are too young to be having intercourse. Have you thought how your future will be negatively impacted by having a baby even if he does stand by you? You need to become highly realistic so that you can have a good future life!

In California, it will be "rape", even if you say it's ok. It's legal to go out, but you're a minor until you turn 18 too.

Even if it is legal, its not smart. Who cares how old you look. Yes, it is illegal for him to take advantage of you with sex. There is nothing wrong if you are friends. Go ask your dad what he thinks.
Yah, I know I"m not going to get picked for best answer with this one.
