im getting shipped next summer and im a little concerned with army boot camp.

my recruiter told me that men and women go through the exact same training and your life will be miserable if you can't do the exercises they do there cuz then they'll put you seperatly to train you to pass the standard.

but that's okay because i still have about 6 months to prepare for it.

**** WHAT I AM REALLY CONCERNED WITH IS ..!!****

what about when im on my pms??
can i get like a day off or reduced training???

women who are/have been in army.. please answer...

Lots of women don't even get their period due to stress during basic. If you do, no, you will not get the day off or reduced training. You will be expected to meet the same standards everyone else has to meet.

if you can't pass the minimum requirement in reception center, you will be put in a fitness training unit where they make you exercise all the time to help you pass the test. there was a mix of women and males in our unit. i couldn't do pushups to save my life. i was 100 pds going into basic and had absolutely no upper body strength. i really thought i could do the requirement going in, but i didn't go far enough down to pass the pushup requirement. it was a mixed blessing though, we learned alot more than those going straight into basic. we did the confidence course, learned map skills and so forth during the off time from working out. I was in there for two weeks. they gave pt tests on certain days and for those that passed, they were sent into basic.

i stopped having periods until i went to ait. i think all the stress and physical activity made my period stop. alot of the women had the same problem. unless you are bleeding excessively, you will continue with your training. they don't give days off for pms or cramping or anything.

First I commend you for joining. Second if you keep that attitude that is why women in the military are sometimes criticized. I never really understood why a lot of men are against women in the military until just now.
Sorry to be harsh, but you will be fine. You probabley won't even get a period or go to your doctor and he can give you pills or a shot to stop it. Keep training your butt off and you will be fine. You have the same training as men but times and the amount you have to be is different. Good luck and God bless. Thank you for your future service to our country.

It's not called boot camp in the Army its basic training and AIT. If you are in shape its easy. The standards to pass are very easy. They are harder to max your PT test but if you work some they are atainable. Periods are just another day in the Army. Throw some tampons in your pocket and keep on moving. Motrin works wonders for PMS.

Your kidding right? Get the day off or reduced training? Don't even bother to ask that to your FEMALE Drill Instructor or you will be doing pushups until she gets tired. I might be a guy and in the Air Force but I can tell you that the girls at basic that whined about that were jumped on hard, no branch of the military will take you to seriously if you ask that. You would be better off just toughing it out with the rest of them.

relies upon the position the boot camp is they are going to both tear you down then construct you back up. some won't be able to take it in both position fort Benning is third toughest. So i'm informed there are 2 others harder they're both Marine camps
