I dont have any tattoos now, but I've had this in mind for some time and finally decided to do some research on it. I want to place "honor", "courage", and "commitment" in chinese characters vertically down my right-back.

I went to babelfish and typed in those words to get the chinese and it turns out that each word is 2 characters. 荣誉 (honor), 勇气 (courage), 承诺 (commitment). I've asked a friend to verify if those are the correct translations (no response yet) and if whether there is a 1 character version of those words... but I had always expected to have 3 chinese characters nicely spaced out down my back... Now that image has been crushed :(.

I recieved a quoted price of $100 for 3 characters. How much more expensive would 6 characters be, and would it even be aesthetic (and simple) to plaster 6 characters on my back? I want a nice clean simple look.

Thanks

Glad to know you are researching the meanings. Wouldn't want anything bad to be on you!

Have you thought of having a diff language? Many cultures have a 'character' alphabet. Does it have to be Chinese? Check out some other languages.

Any reputable artist will work with you on getting a design just right for you. If you must go for Chinese, express your concerns to your artist and work with them on getting the right design. It may turn out that they could come up with something really cool and still stay within you guidelines.

As far as cost goes, most shops are about $ 100 an hour. I always allow for a 2 hour sitting just in case time runs over the estimate.

Good luck...hope you find what you are looking for

I think that doubling the characters will look equally as simple. As for the price, I don't know where you are going but I know some people charge by the hour, not by what you are getting. Be sure to put the same effort into finding a good, clean shop as you are putting into the tattoo itself. Remember that you could have an awesome idea that is easily ruined by someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Good luck to you, i hope it turns out well.

It doesn't seem that going from one character to 2 characters for each idea would ruin the aesthetic of it. It would probably still be a clean, simple look, but do make sure they say what you want them to say.

To upload, the extra you realize, the extra you're useful, the extra you receives a commission. Web Designer's get high-quality pay. I do promoting however for a non-benefit so I get awful pay. Experience is the important thing and also you customarily begin off with crap pay. Expect 25K popping out, bear in mind your self fortunate in case you get a task paying forty-50K coming correct out.

I'm not sure about the price but my husband has the words "Strength, Honor, Courage" and he only has 3 symbols, one for each word.
