I'm sorry to say but there is no cure for eczema. Trust me. I got eczema when I was 7 years old. My eczema got so bad that I was hospitalized when i was 9 for about a month. However, that is a whole long story. If it gives you hope, my skin completely cleared up by the time I turned 18 and I haven't had a breakout for years. I'm now 21. A lot of people can't even tell that I even had a skin problem. Here are some recommendations for topical ointments that you should ask your dermatologist for. They definitely work. Try: Diprolene or Triamcinalone. These two are great at helping clear up an eczema breakout. Even though i haven't had a break out in years...eczema is genetic and it is always in your body. I find that my skin tries to break out when I get really stressed out. So, do what you can to avoid stress, try to pin point things that cause your skin to flare up and itch. For example, I realized that I can't wash my clothes in Tide detergent because it makes my skin itch. Basically, take baths where you can scrub your skin with a loofah to remove all dead skin, moisturize your skin...also apply those prescription ointments i recommended, keep your nails cut and do your best to avoid scratching because all that does it spread it and make it worse. Sincerely, good luck. Don't worry, there is hope. My skin is currently clear and yours will be too.

Sorry there is no cure. There are over the counter meds like anti-itch cream to help or if more severe you will need to go to the doctor for stronger meds. Try oatmeal baths!! just use warm not hot water that will make the skin dryer. Also drink tons of water to keep this skin from drying out so much I drink a gallon a day.
Its an annoying problem but if you take care of your body for the outside in you will feel a big diffrence!

Boy! Everyone is so negative about curing eczema! Here you go sweety:

"I'm so happy for this forum, and wanted to share my story in hopes that it will give others some relief from their eczema. I am a 29 year old female.

I woke up nearly seven months ago with red, scaly, itchy patches under my eyes. From there, it continued to progress to my eyelids, cheeks, chin, eyebrows, and lips. I would have good face days, and bad face days. Sometimes, the pain and itchiness, and cracks in the corners of my mouth were so bad that I just stayed in bed all day. I began to get depressed because no amount of makeup would cover the redness and hide the flaky patches. All of this was very odd to a woman who has always had beautiful skin and an abundance of energy.

My naturopath boyfriend was baffled. His energy work didn't seem to help. I tried every natural face cream imagineable, endured a colonic, cleansed, and the condition persisted.

Yesterday, however, for the first day in months, I left my house with no makeup on!

How?

Two weeks ago, I was tested for food allergies, and due to a leaky gut and liver toxicity, my body was reacting to many different foods that I was eating daily, and considering them toxins. So, I have cut out wheat, dairy, eggs, gluten, tomatoes, potatoes, and a host of other foods that showed up. I also take copious amounts of flaxseed oil, and externally, use Jason brand vitamin e oil on the flaky skin patches.

I have also taken up yoga again for relaxation because under stress, I would have a severe flare up. I could literally stand in front of a mirror and watch my skin errupting if I was under extreme work or emotional stress.

In a nutshell, I think it's important to be checked for food sensitivities first and foremost when you are dealing with severe eczema. Also, essential fatty acids are important, as well as drinking lots of water. I also am now a firm believer in yoga for minimizing the effects of stress."

There is no cure but you can control it. If it itches very badly, the best thing to do is get ahold of some jojoba, vegetable and evening primose oils. Take 2 tablepoons of the vegetable to about 30 drops jojoba and 10 drops evening primose. Stir them together and rub into the skin; depending on your skin type and if you have access to essential oils, german chamomile, tagetes and yarrow. With those, proportion off to 10-5-5 drops with the other formula I suggested and use it twice a day. This is safe, even on babies. I wish you all the best.

Vicki

There is a cure for eczema; in most cases it's brought on by food allergies.
My nephew had it real bad (cheeks, butt, thighs, arms) until age 4; turns out he was allergic to wheat products, and he's cured of it now.

Heard this from my sister, a pharmacist.
Go see a dermatologist, and try to figure out which foods seem to affect you the most.

EVERYONE suggests using cremes and stuff, but YOU HAVE TO FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING the eczema first, right?

Good Luck !

PS SEE? I was right look below and read EarthMuffin's write-up.

I've had rosacea and eczema as long as I can remember. I've been to the dermatologist countless times and tried many over-the-counter and prescription creams to treat the condition. To this day, Rodan and fields SOOTHE moisturizer has been the only thing that works for me. (Even better than some of the $200 prescription ones I bought.) I bought the soothe cream from the site below:

I really dont think you can cure it but it can be treated with several types of creams such as Eucerin (I think that's how it's spelled). I would suggest u see a doctor but until u do, the eucerine can be purchased at most drug stores.
