okay, my mom ran for state rep. but lost. she was running on a democratic ticket. now that its all over, she's a bit depressed, though she does an awfully good job hiding it. what should i do to cheer her up without making it look like i feel sorry for her?

I still don't know what to do. my dad gives her hugs and kisses, my grandmother gave her this beautiful basket of colorful flowers, and EVERYONE calls to say 'oh, im so sorry!' and that's what i said. my mom is the bravest person in the world. she doesn't go hiking in the South American jungles, but she's got her own zoo full of monkeys to manage. (i have four sisters and one brother) She's done so much for me, and now that i have an excuse, i don't know of anything that i can do that someone else hasn't already done.
Thx anyways for all your caring posts. i didn't think there was anyone out there who was actually nice enough to care, online that is. Thx again,

Deborah

You probably know what things she likes to "spoil herself" with... give them to her. Maybe a bouquet of fresh flowers, a box/bag of her favorite candies, a copy of her favorite movie, a new sweater/book/game/etc. Then add in a card that simply says "I love you Mom."

Acknowledge her strength in pursuing a goal and a dream. It's not the win or loss that matters most, it's the amount of herself that was invested.

Sorry that your mom lost, but what a great example she has given you - find something you believe in and give it everything you have!

Let her lean on you if she needs to for a bit. She'll find her stride again soon.

All you can do is be there for her, and try asking her how she feels!!!! And let your know that no matter what you are on her side and she is still your Mom and she will ALWAYS have your vote!!!! But like i said just try talking to her about her feelings and tell her how you feel, You have to be there for her!!!! hope this helps

Tell her that you're proud of her and that you love her. Give her some hugs. Even get her her favorite ice cream. What makes you feel better when you're down? Give her the same.

I am sure she prepared herself for a loss but just be there in case she needs a hug or shoulder to cry on. She should be proud to have raised such a sweet caring daughter.
