Maybe their parents aren't always around to talk to.
Maybe they are growing up in a family that you just don't talk about that stuff.
As a mom to 2 girls, one who is a teen I make sure I am available for her to talk to and she does..everyday. Because of the openess I have with her, I mean I act like a mom not a buddy, but I do really listen to her, I found out her bf was seriously mental and I was able to get her out of that situation before she became a statisitc. She knows she can come to me and I will be there for her.
I wish more parents acted like parents and not buddies to their kids. They can be friends when the child becomes an adult

Well, for some.. their relationships with their parents aren't as good as others. Some may have really strict parents that don't even know they are having sex.. or even religious parents where sex is...not good. I think it's great that there is such a thing here where people can ask and be answered.

Sometimes they are so afraid of their parents because they have committed a mistake and the blame is often with them. So most of them go to their "trusted" person, say a counselor. And most of the time they find it difficult to talk to their parents because they fear them, think of a nagging mother and a dominating father. Also it is with the environment they are in that is why they dont ask advise from their parents, think of a conservative family and a child pregnant out of wedlock. So there are many factors affecting why the children dont tend to talk to their parents regarding this issue. Bottom line is there is no open communication between the parents and the child. I hope i have help you with your question. Good luck!

Most teens I know (and knew when I was a teen) would be hesitant to discuss those topics with their parents...it's easier to find out elsewhere, and only adress it with the folks, if there's a serious issue and they need help...
More parents should make sure they have the type of relationship with their kids, so that the kids DO feel comfy going to them about that stuff...but far too many do not...

No they don't talk to their parents. The fact that you're seeing so many online is telling you that their parents aren't paying much attention to them either. I feel for them, but I'm grateful that they are at least trying to get some kind of help somewhere.
We just have to pray that they are paying attention to the good advice that's out there. And if you have any knowledge you can share with them, please do so.
We were like them once before too.

Ok pregnancy I agree but relationships I don't. You don't own the yahoo answers and you do not have the right to crictize others for asking relationship questions. It's not your job, now quit acting like you own us all like all of you other people who ask the same question about why teens ask this blah blah blah. No one gives a crap except you guys. We do it when we want unless Yahoo changes it.

The question you should ask is "do parents not talk to their teens?" Parents need to become more active in their teens lives and not be embarrassed to talk about stuff like sex with them.

Some kids don't have a good relationship with their parents. It's sad that sometimes strangers are better listeners than the people who raise you.

Let's be real here, they are dense little creatures, they don't know that their parents are the best ones to ask for advice, no matter how embarrasing, they know best...ugh! Somebody knock some sense into these hormone driven teens!
