Is Nutro MAX a high enough quality food for dogs, or am I better off spending the extra on Natural Choice?

I am looking for something that is a fair price and good quality that I can buy locally; mail order is just too expensive when I am ordering 80lbs at a time.

I went to the site below and read the ingredients in each adult dog food. The Natural Choice came in Lamb & Rice where Max did not. The better ingredients are in Natural Choice. If you are definitely convinced of feeding Nutro foods, that is the one I would choose.

Otherwise, you should look into premium foods, such as Canidae, Wellness, Natural balance, Newman's Own, etc. They are better than Natural Choice, but Natural Choice is a good food for the buck. I personally have three dogs and switch between Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul and Canidae. My dogs really do better on these foods.

Best to you.

My dogs had the WORST diarrhea on MAX. It was a funny color too!!! Not good. Go for the Natural Choice.

OF course it has been YEARS since I tried it........maybe they have improved it.

Natural Choice may not be the BEST food out there, but if you can afford it,can get it, and the dogs like it......it is a good food.

Not all dogs do well on the super high quality like Innova (Evo or other) Wellness, and the others. Many do get diarrhea and take a lot of time to adjust. If my dog has diarrhea all the time on it...can it really be that good??????????

I feed Nutro Natural High Energy and it is roughly 45.00 for 40#. Spendy but worth it. Go with a quality food that agrees with your dog.

We use Nutro Natural Choice. We started about three months ago and find that our dog no longer chews on her skin and her coat is really healthy.

Neither one is particularly "high quality". If you must feed kibble, go with something along the lines of Evo, Canadae, Wellness, or Natural Balance.

Pedigree is as good as any food on the market IF you dog is NOT deep chested. Buying more expensive food than Purina or Pedigree is a total waste of money, and dogs do NOT care about anything but the food...they never get tired of the same diet, day in and day out...Be careful about food if you dog is deep chested...limit foods to those that have little carbos as fillers..can cause gas and kill the doggie very quickly.
