I wish there was a good answer, but unfortunately there's not a perfect solution, and there won't be until game developers write games for linux. But that won't happen until they can write games for one platform , til then its not in their best interest economically.
Check out cegeda gaming, for a small fee you can download their environment, like wine, and install games. i've gotten a few to work, like Civ IV, and a few others. They've got a good database of games they support or that are known to work, even hints on making them run better. There's cross over office, but its more of a general purpose wine type of app, where cegeda gaming is more just for games.
Good luck, and don't let the fact that linux has poor games support discourage you from using it. It'll come around, and the more people that use it the more likely it is that developers will write native games for linux.

You can run some games with wine. For the latest you can visit www.winehq.org You will find documentation on this for running some games. However, the graphics and textures for some games may be slighly different.
