Saint Mary Magdalene was the first witness to the resurrection of Jesus. (See the 20th Chapter of the Gospel of John).
She was one of Jesus' followers during his ministry, and was present at the cross when he died.
There is some debate on whether she is the woman in Luke 7 who was a notorious sinner. Most biblical scholars believe that Mary Magdalene was not the notorious sinner.
The 8th chapter of the Gospel of Luke describes Mary Magdalene as being healed and supporting Jesus' ministry out of her means.
With love in Christ.

Evidently, Jesus held her in high esteem. The Catholic Church leaders could not accept the prominent role Mary Magdalene played, so they slandered her, and said she was a prostitute. The Bible does not say this. And yet it's an unquestioned belief by many Christians. I guess the Vatican has a vested interest in making people believe that women never had leadership roles, or that there were no remarkable, wise women in the time of Jesus. Maybe more people would object to the idea that women are not allowed to be priests. Clever, huh?
Before I knew that the prostitute allegations were false, I still liked the story, because I thought it proved that Jesus really did love everyone. Someone being a prostitute would not have been condemned. It's clear that Mary Magdalene held a very special place in his heart, so I understand why some people assume she was his wife. Though I don't believe either of those theories, I think it'd just be a testament to Jesus' love for everyone. That he'd love a former prostitute and take her as his wife.

Mark Chapter 15 and 16 tells much about Mary Magdalene.
Jesus had cast out devils from Mary. She also was at the sepulcher where Jesus was laid when he was found to have risen.
Jesus appeared first to Mary Magdalene, after he was risen.
Does no one read. Luke 8:2 Beginning:
And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
Jesus NEVER married. You need to stick with the Bible and leave man written books alone, they are for the glory of man and there bank account.

Mary, from the town of Magdala, is a woman who had multiple demons cast out of her. She was a female follower of Christ.
Mark 16:9, "Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils."

Before I stir up a firestorm (and I truly am not trying to do that) let me just say that I am not able to find that she was a prostitute, as is widely believed. We only know that she was a follower of Christ and that she was with Mary, Jesus' mother, when the tomb was opened. I have a really hard time believing that the Virgin Mary would take a prostitute to help cleanse her son's body and annoint it with oil or that the disciples would listen to a prostitute (even in those days they were scorned) who told them the Lord has risen!

There are several theories about who Mary Magdalene was. Some say she was Jesus's wife. This has a lot of support from both canonical writings and non-canon. In both the Gospel of Philip and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, the other apostles know and accept the fact that Jesus loves Mary Magdalene, in fact they claim he loves her more than he loves them. Also, she was one of the women who went to anoint his body after his death. In ancient Jewish tradition, this was the job of the wife.
Whether or not she was his wife, she was certainly one of his disciples.

Mary Magdalene is not a prostitute. Misconception because they mention a lady before her and she was prostitute, but right after announcing a prostitute they announced Mary and then people automatically assumed it was her. Mary was follower of Christ, probably another Disciple that the church didn't want to regconize because it make women = to men and they didn't want women to think that they were equal to men.

Many people say she was a whore but it actually turns out the Magdalene translates to Leader in islam. Magdalene was her title not her last name, she ran a church of the Goddess for rich jewish girls, but christians hated the idea of the Goddess and told everyone that women where no better than livestock and they would constantly throw rocks at her on the street and call her a whore, that's where it got started.
