I have IKEA “adel” medium brown cabinets (an orangey-red color), stainless steel appliances, black granite counter tops, brushed nickel hardware and sand colored tiles. Does anyone else have a similar kitchen and if so, what color did you paint it? I would like to use some color, maybe an accent wall. My kitchen is not huge, so I’m afraid to go too dark. The rest of my house is very calm—blues, beiges, etc.

I have orangey oak cabinets, stainless steel and beige counters. I just painted it a color called Promenade by Behr from Home Depot. It's a sage or mossy green. It really made my cabinets pop. It's beautiful. I don't use Behr paint. I just use their color charts and have Home Depot make it with Ralph Lauren paint. It's the best paint out there now. Even if you do one or two walls with it and maybe the rest with a cream color like Ralph Laurens Cowrie Shell. This is a very pretty color also and goes well with the green. Good Luck

Use a white primer and the a light pumpkin color. We did it with a gray primer and it looks very warm and inviting, but we have off cream counters.
This will make a dramatic break from the rest of the house, but it can work.

well, to get a more modern look, a darker red or maroon would work great with your color.

Or a bright Orange, more in a tangerine, or a yellowish, red. Would make the room brighter, and apear larger, and is more common with modern kitchens.

but traditionally, a very pale orange, or a color that goes with your other walls, especially if your kitchen shares the walls other walls...

I'd go for a cream color- any 'real' color could be too much. Then you could use any colored accents you wanted and change things up. Either that or a sage -ish green

You already have blue in your home and blue is a complementary colour of orange and in abstract it's also the colour of metal so go with what you already know you like......blue. Perhaps a little darker to have your cabinetry stand out. Try one wall, just a small can of paint to begin with, see how you like it.
