I'm trying to find a good Slow Cooker for my mom this Christmas but the reviews on amazon.com aren't very good. Most have low scores, but some have high scores but they all still have at least one review that says "Cooks food too fast!" Either all the slow cookers they have for sale don't work right or the reviewers are stupid and are using them wrong. What is the best cheap (-$100) slow cooker available?

You can pick up a slow cooker or a crock pot for under $30.00. They all work about the same. Just be sure to buy one with a removable crock pot (apart from the base) for easy soaking and cleaning. I have never bought one that cooks "too fast"?

We bought one for our eldest daughter last Christmas so, I'd have to say it's from Rival. It's a stainless steel, 6-qt, programmable with a removable crock. Automatic warmer after it turns off the cooking cycle. Around $52. @ Walmart.
You really don't want one without the removable crock tho.

Our family has 3 Rival Crockpots. All of them have 3 settings keep warm, low, high. We purchased them from Walmart and haven't had any trouble with them. We cook chili, pot roast, beef stew, meatloaf, and even made lasgna in it! Those new crockpot liners are a blessing! No mess and No clean up! Hope this helps!

I own a rival crock pot. I think it works quite well. It was about 30-35 dollars. It is a 5-quart and has a removable ceramic pot.

I've never had any trouble with any of the Rival slow cookers.
I've owned a couple and purchased a couple for friends who've told me they've not had any problems either.

I have a Proctor-Silex and a Hamilton Beach. Both are reasonably priced and work great. I recommend one having at least three heat settings (for example warm, low and high).
