returned the item

confirmed the refund on paypal

will it put credit back on my credit card ???

Yes it should go back on your card but, i would still check your credit card company.

you need to go into your PayPal account and transfer the funds out of there back to your card, otherwise the balance will stay in PayPal

yes it will but you will still get a small service fee.
