my female friend is trying to hook us up, but i really don't think i need her help. she has everything planned out, she wants to go play football as a group (me, the girl i want to date, and two of my friend's friends) but the problem is she has that planned for two weeks from this coming friday. i really don't want to wait that long if i have a chance with this girl...would it be ok if i asked her out beforehand and went out w/ her one on one to get to know her first? we are both 18 years old. thanks for any advice.

Yeah, one on one is WAY better than any other strategy. Beleive me. It's more "formal" when you do it yourself. It'll show her that YOU have the gutts to talk to her and ask her yourself pal. Go for it.

If you want to go out with this girl, then YOU ask her. Keep your female friend out of your business; it's not her date, it's yours.
The problem is that SHE has planned the date, not when the date is. If I were the girl you wanted to take out, I would be looking for you to come to me and ask me out. I wouldn't want to be chatted up by the guy's friend. Frankly, it won't end there; She'll want to know how things went, what you did, if you kissed her...etc. And really, if I'm the girl? I wouldn't want your friend in our business. I would respect that she's your friend and all, but enough already!
Tell your friend you appreciate your help, but you'll take it from here. Have the date that YOU want. Go on a group date if you want to, but make your own plans. I think it would be better to go with your girl alone. You won't be distracted by everyone else, and the two of you can have a cool evening getting to know each other. One on one will work the best.

Yeah go for it. If you don't want to wait. Make the first move and by the time the set up date comes you guys could be really comfortable and actually have a great time!

well now that you have a date set, you should talk to her about it, then lead her into more convos...by the time the football game rolls around you will be able to talk freely and not have anything be awkward...then ask her out.

yeah...why wouldnt it be? does it really matter? I think when your 18 you are old enough to make these decisions for yourself. (i dont mean that as an insult either, so please dont take it offensivly)
