This is a good vehicle. Always remember, however, that a used vehicle is only as good as the person who owned it previously. I would ask to see service records-make sure the routine maintenance's were all done in a timely manner. They do use quite a bit of gas, that is the biggest pitfall of the big SUVs. They ride very nice, and are quite comfortable.

We purchased a 2001 Expedition with the 5.4L engine and drove the heck out of it with little problems. They seem to wear out front end parts quicker than most though. At time of purchase it had 30k miles and we traded it at just short of 100k. Several vacations, tons of sporting events, and plain haulin' the kids around. Be sure to follow the maint. schedule closely as far as tire rotation and the like. It will maximize the life of those front end parts!

yes they are,,i own a repair shop, and i have worked on a few of them before ,but for minor things and nothing major at all,so far they seem to be holding up really good and all the owners i know of like them a lot,as forth high mileage ones i have seen a few with some high miles and they seem to be ok at the time ,so it might make you a good vehicle, i do know of this for sure they really go good in the snow,i have seen that a lot,but yes there pretty reliable vehicles to own,,good luck i hope this help,s.

the question is do you need a vehicle that big?...but yes most ford trucks are really dependable....depends on the previous owner of course....i would have it checked out from top to bottom and if the mechanic says it's kool...then go for it....the rest of us ford nuts will except you in the Kool kids club with open arms...

Pretty much reliable... Roads in my area are rough but most things are just front end work (due to the rough roads.. holes as big as a grocery shopping cart.. and I'm not exaggerating) and coil packs are about the major things I work on them for.

Yes. Get the 5.4L engine though. The optional 4.6 is too small for a truck that size and has to work too hard to keep up. Other than that normal repairs and it will give you years of satisfaction

Noooo! Ford makes some great products but the Expediton (especially the older ones) are absolute junk. Stay away from buying one of these at all costs.

Reliability should be decent if unexceptional, I would rather get a GMC Yukon/Chevy Tahoe instead.
