Government Accountability Office (GAO) report number GAO-05-337R (’Information on Criminal Aliens Incarcerated in Federal and State Prisons and Local Jails,’ issued May 9, 2005) informed us that “At the federal level, the number of criminal aliens incarcerated increased from about 42,000 at the end of calendar year 2001 to about 49,000 at the end of calendar year 2004–a 15 percent increase. The percentage of all federal prisoners who are criminal aliens has remained the same over the last 3 years–about 27 percent.” (Translation: If the current estimate of 12 million illegals in the US is accurate, that would represent 4% of the country’s population, and would mean that illegals are 6-1/2 times MORE likely to be in federal prison than the rest of the population.

A GAO report released that same day, number GAO-05-64R (’Information on Certain Illegal Aliens Arrested in the United States’) studied the criminal records of over 55,000 incarcerated illegal immigrants, and found that “….. they were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien. Nearly all had more than 1 arrest. Thirty-eight percent (about 21,000) had between 2 and 5 arrests, 32 percent (about 18,000) had between 6 and 10 arrests, and 26 percent (about 15,000) had 11 or more arrests. Most of the arrests occurred after 1990. They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien. One arrest incident may include multiple offenses, a fact that explains why there are nearly one and half times more offenses than arrests. Almost all of these illegal aliens were arrested for more than 1 offense. continued...

Slightly more than half of the 55,322 illegal aliens had between 2 and 10 offenses. About 45 percent of all offenses were drug or immigration offenses. About 15 percent were property-related offenses such as burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and property damage. About 12 percent were for violent offenses such as murder, robbery, assault, and sex-related crimes. The balance was for such other offenses as traffic violations, including driving under the influence; fraud–including forgery and counterfeiting; weapons violations; and obstruction of justice.”

This is not a question?
Hmmm let's read it, shall we?
Are illegals GOOD for the USA?
It appears to be a question in both form and substance. What you read after is the added DETAILS!
No wonder so many here are Pro-illegal, I mean Pro-crime. If they cannot even identify a question (taught by 3rd grade, I believe), how can they handle an issue as complex as illegal immigration?

Carol, honey, our elected officials did not let them in! The ones that got 'let in' as you so nicely put it, are LEGAL ALIENS!
The illegals are the ones that were not 'let in'.

I think you should read more about US history. The US is constituted by immigrants from the beginning. Immigrants make this economy to keep its flow. I agree with you in the fact that immigration increase the criminal rate, but think about the millions of dollars that they contribute to the US because they can't recover the amount for retirement because they don't have a legal residence. We shouldn't discriminate this people, because the fact that we are living by the legal way and they don't, it doesn't mean that they are less than we are. Human beings are the same in China, Japan, and Cuba or in the US. They have a family to feed, and I'm sure that in this case you'll fight to give the best to your family, even if this implies you to migrate to another country. You have to be grateful with God for give you the opportunity of living in a country where you can find a good job and obtain a fair remuneration for what you do. You should be more empathic with this people. Just in case I want you that know that I'm a US citizen and I don't have any problem with immigrants; my family have lived in the US since 1732, when Remy Poisot (born in Dijon, France) Sergeant of the Marines was assigned to the Natchitoches Post, LA.

Personally, I think that any immigration is vital for the US. And the Hispanics I have met have invariably been hardworking, honest, sincere christian family people. Much rather live next to them than a middle easterner. Also, Hispanics tend to be prosecuted and incarcerated for minor offenses that others usually just get suspended sentences or probation for. Justice costs money, and if you have money, often you can buy justice. I have seen this happen many, many times.

So, what does that tell you. That because of the illegal aliens our bills for federal prisons have increased. Along with the services that they receive in them.

I say yes, they are good because, you know, you need some people to mow lawns, do the blue collar work. We also can get more cultural diffusion. I'll say, every American want the kinds of jobs that pays the big bucks. Private school, high performance cars, big families, big house, lots of land, in other words, American families want to social climb.

You're not really asking a question so much as making a statement. What about the contributions they make outside of the criminal justice arena?

Illegals are not good for the country because salaries are not being raised and taxes are not properly collected.
