Well first of all, you need to ask yourself if you should get this breed. Do you have enough time to care for it? Do you know enough about the breed? Is this the right breed for you? For instance, if you want a dog to jog with and play frisbee, an E.B.D. is not for you. They are slow and somewhat lazy. It's important to make sure that the dog would fit in with everyones lifestyle and you could give it the best life possible. If you show your parents how prepared you are, you have a much better chance of getting a dog! Good luck!

First of all there are so many great things about owning a pet!
Pet owners are healthier!(That's a proven fact, they lower blood pressure ) Pets make you laugh, feel secure, are companions, make you exercise, You learn patience, and how to train a dog. How to discipline correctly. Teaches you responsibility. You do more yard work!
For you to consider-my opinion is that a dog is a part of the family and should live in the home with the family. If you believe your future dog will be tied out back, then a dog is not for you. Getting a dog is a commitment for at least 10 years for this breed. Where will the dog go when you are at school? Do you have a fenced yard? How will you help with the expense of owning a dog? Who can you depend on to take care of the dog if you go on a vacation? You should figure out those questions before your meeting with your parents. I wonder about your grades? If you are proving yourself as being responsible with your grades you should remind your parents how hard you are working. Best of luck getting a dog!

Ok, I normally don't like to be the fussy one, but are you sure this is a great purchase. You still live with your parents, so I would assume you don't have the money an English Bull Dog takes in vet visits alone. Possibly, the most expensive breed I've ever come across. Maybe reconsider after you have a place of your own.

I own a English Bulldog. And most people are right.
#1-They cost a lot to buy between $1000-$2000. Depends on the breeders and where you live.
#2-They DO cost a tonnes in Vet bills.
#3-They stink, fart, burp, snore.
Bulldogs are GREAT dogs but they do involve a tonnes of work on your behalf. Cleaning of their wrinkles on their face. Watching their diet, making sure they get enough exercise, that's only a little bit of your duties as a dog owner. I do understand why your parents might not want you to have this breed of dog. They are a tonnes of work. If after what I said you still want one. Do your homework on the Breed and show your parents that your willing to look after him and pay for his Vet bills etc. I think that if they see you know what your getting yourself into they might let you. All I know is they are a great breed but a hole lot of work. They are very stubborn dog's probably just like your parents. Good Luck!

Oh my--are you sure you want this breed--LOL--This is a stubborn, hard headed, expensive, can be lazy Breed not to mention they have a TON of health issues that should really be looked into--This is a breed that you def. want to get from a good breeder that has done the research and health testing on ALL the animals being bred in their lines and kennel. Finding a good breeder and getting a puppy from them can be a long journey--usually they have homes set up for the pups before they are born and you might be on a waiting list--WARNING DO NOT buy this breed from someone that doesn't do health testing--ITS not worth it in the long run.... Vet's saying " Buy a Bulldog Support your local Vet!"

First of all, I knew someone who had an English Bulldog and he was such a wonderful companion. After doing a little research I found out that, English bulldogs are sweet-tempered family compaions. They are placid and gentle. They rarely complain or whine and barely ever bark. For these reasons and many more, I think your parents would be very wise to allow you to have an english bulldog. That is if you are willing to take care of it. Don't make them do it! LOL

i hit the rating button by mistake. sorry about that.
what are the reasons your folks don't want to get the dog? are you responsible? do you work and can pay all the bills? while your at work or school who's going to care for the dog? i suggest you work, at least as a volunteer, in a shelter. in about 6 months you'll have at least proven to your folks you can be responsible. then you'll have ammunition when you ask again. and save all your money from your allowance. help your neighbors for a little extra money.

Get a virtual pet ( lol ) one that can die if your not responsible. Do a search on the internet concerning prices, breeds, ect. Beg? Sit down and have a nice calm talk with them.
