Paul also said: For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that.
1 Corinthians 7:28
But even if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned.
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry
The author of Hebrews wrote: Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled
Paul chose not to be married because he had a specific calling and purpose in his life. Some people are meant to get married and have a family AKA Adam and Eve "be fruitful and multiply the earth."
Like the other guy said, if we all chose not to get married we would not reproduce.

First of all, it doesn't mean to "burn with envy," Paul is talking about lust. And he did not say you should, he said it is better to remain unmarried so that you can serve Christ. But he does emphasize that not everyone is made to be unmarried for the rest of their lives. I still hope to be married someday, but that won't make me any "less" of a believer. I can serve Christ still through loving, encouraging, and respecting my future husband, and be an example of Christ and the church. Hope that answers your question.

I am sitting here shaking my head on this one, and just wondering what other Children of God are thinking ??? I wonder what they do with the Scriptures that say we are to lift each other, keep each other in line, watch out for each other, admonish each other for wrongs, etc..... and by *each other* I do mean fellow believers ..... If I make the comment that a *true Christian* beleives the Word of God, that is NOT judgmental, that is the truth in the Word...... If I say a *true Christian* does NOT try to crame the Word of God down anothers throat, that is NOT judgmental, that is truth in the Word...... but, I seldom if ever use the term *true Christian*, because it means nothing, what does, is the Body of Christ, now that is where we are seperated..... Only the Holy Spirit can put anyone INTO the Body of Christ, and NOT all who say they are a member are !!!!! And that too is in the Scriptures !!!! And yes, division is a normal and scripturual thing, we will be divided into Sheep and Goat.... Not all who say Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.... *shrug*...... and so it goes.......... go in peace....... God bless

No, God talks about the bonds between a husband and a wife and how that is special...Read Genesis 2: 18-25..and good..everyone has a choice to get married. God's will calls sometimes for people to get married (pastor's wives..we would we be without them??) and how could we have children without marriage? God delights in marriage because it is an eternal bond..but it is not good for some people..so I hope I answered your question.
Read Ecclesiastes 4: 9-10

I think this verse is similar, but explained better in Corinthians. Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
Let love come when God brings it--don't worry about finding a wife, or your wife dragging you down. Serve God and God will put you in the proper maritial status for what he needs you for. It isn't a commandment against marriage, I think he just wants us to make serving God the priority rather than seeking marriage and other worldly treasures. The Bible also says it is better to marry than to burn, so if you know you are weak enough that you think you will defile your body with someone you are to whom you aren't married because you are horny, perhaps you should find a wife and do things right.

You got it wrong. He says it's better to remain unmarried, but if you want to be married and it's a desire of your heart, God will be fine with it as long as you seek his will.
Some are fine being single, that's the desire God put in their hearts. Envy, no, you meant lust. Burn with lust.......

Once again someone is trying to challenge Christians with one little phrase they heard somewhere without getting all the facts. Getting married is not only acceptable to God, But he expects it.

Everybody translates the bible their own way....
Of course we all burn with envy, (even if we can't admit it) being human and all. So I think we're in the clear with the marriage thing....and it also said "be fruitful and multiply"
But like I said, everybody translates differently....
