I am so stuck!!! I honestly don't know what is the right way to hug. Do you do a side hug, or like a big intimidating bear hug or what?
Or should you not hug people at all?
(I am talking about just my friends, not boys)

There is NOTHING like a good warm hug!!!

Some women don't want others to "feel" their breast against their chest for whatever reasons. Whether it be a side hug or full hug, you breasts ARE going to be felt.

Its up to you. If you want to transfer warmth and fondness, then give a nice full hug. You don't have to hang on and on. A nice hug and then back off.

If you want to remain "distant" a side hug will do. The only thing about a side hug is that if the other person is expecting a full hug, they may reach across to the shoulder furtherest away to give you a full hug and find themselves with a hand full of breast rather than shoulder. What then? A side hug must be understood from the start.

Some women will just hold shoulders and fake a kiss on the cheek while saying..........uummmmmwa. Whatever that means. :-)

Its no big deal, really. Hugs are great and I am VERY sensitive to a cold side hug which tells me how much the person actually likes and cares for me.....I think.

Good luck. Pops

I think a side hug is the best option here if you're looking to avoid awkwardness. The only time I would NOT do a side hug is if the other person initiates a full hug by bringing over the other arm, then, and only then, would I go into a full hug.

I like the answer above giving different options for different situations. But here's the biggest tip: take cues from the other person.

If male/female huug, then bring your chests together and hold for the count of two. Kiss on cheek is optional.

Same sex...hold arms only, anything else seems gay

I don't think there is a right or wrong way. If you are uncomfortable, you can always talk to each friend and ask her what she would prefer.
