Rice Krispy treats are my favorite to make with my kids. Here are some holiday ideas:
They have red and green rice Krispies during the holidays.
M&M's work, ive tried it.
I have also used crushed candy canes and they are deliscous.
Add some red or green food coloring to the melted marshmallows before mixing in the cereal.
Sprinkles work good, so do any little candies.
Let your Imagination run wild!!!!
HAVE FUN, and I hope these Ideas help!!!!

I don't see why the candy canes won't work. Maybe use red and green food coloring on the Rice krispie Treats.

If you want to do something different here is a recipe for you :-) It doesn't use Rice Krispies - but Cheerio's instead and I have been making them for over 30 years for 100's of children and they are very popular and a special treat.
They really are not hard to make if you have your hands buttered when you are shaping the tree's - if you have any questions about them just send me a message and I'll try to help you.

They used to sell Kellogg's Rice Krispies with red a green krispies mixed with the regular ones. I used to make them every year for my daughter when she was in daycare and elementary school. I think they still sell them around Christmas time.

If you want to use candy canes, crush them up first and add those with white chocolate chips or chunks to the mix.
Also, another delicious idea is to add red hots and peanuts. I've done these for valentines day and they were festive and delicious!

we used to do this with corn flakes too,
Make the krispies with some green food coloring, shape it into a wreath, then use red hots for the berries. and the twizzler pull aparts for the ribbon.
you can also use cookie cutters and then decorate with red hots, and sprinkles. but not too much decoration, less is more.

How about a Brownie Pizza instead?
Mix a brownie recipe, pour into pizza pan, bake as normal.
Spread chocolate frosting on top.
Decorate with red and green m&m's, drizzle white icing in a criss cross pattern (to look like the 'cheese') and 'slice' into pizza wedges.
