Being engaged means nothing... I could be engaged to a pig and it wouldn't make a difference. There's no legal stipulations to it as it's not a legal process like marriage is.

You can get engaged at any age - but you can not get married until you are 18. At 16, you can get married if you have parental consent. If you are under 16, you have to have both parental and a judge consent to the marriage - which I don't think has ever happened yet.

You can get engaged at any age you want, it's getting married that you should be concerned about.

Under 18 years of age requires a parental or guardian's letter giving permission. Over 18 years, the world is yours !!!
