Is it an accordance to your faith to believe in evolution? Or is it just that all the Jews who practice Judaism who I know are in the wrong...? I'm just wondering....

( I'm half Jew but I'm atheist I do celebrate some of the religious holidays though just to make my grandpa happy,...)

Orthodox Judaism does not believe in evolution, and there is no such thing as being half Jewish.
If your mother is Jewish, you are 100% Jewish. If your father is Jewish, you are NOT Jewish.

the question that you ask is not difficult to answer. science cannot prove what or who created everything . the bible can. every thing that u read in the book was told about long before science was even thought of. the jews are in for a rude awakeding because the didnot believe when the mesiah came it is good that you do those thing to make grandpa happy. the only proof of evolution is that everything is electronic now. a far cry from the cavelet the jews do what they mustt. i believe in the god that made the earth look at a tree and tell me ther aint no god. science cannot say where the adom came from but the bible does. johnson_johnj@yahoo.com

like everyone has been saying Judaism dose not hold one way or another on the topic of Evolution.

as a general rule though more of the very right wing are against it.

I personally have read Jewish books for and against evolution.

as an Orthodox Jew I personally agree with the general concept that all life has evolved from single celled organisms though I will admit that science has still has a long way to go to explain how it happened.

Wikipedia has an article on Judaism and evolution

Some do; some don't.
Personally, it seems to make sense to me (though there are a few minor difficulties with the theory). Generally, the more sheltered communities (ie people who don't really understand the theory) don't believe in it (heck, I'm sure many haven't even heard of it!), but among those who have studied it, many certainly do accept it.

bottomline: the torah isn't a history or science book. That's not its goal. G-d wrote the torah to teach us concepts for being good people. I believe the torah is true, but I don't believe that such esoteric passages as the creation narrative are to be understood literally.

Jews have the same story of creation as Christians from Genisis. They do not believe in evolution because it is inconsistant with Genisis. That doesn't mean that we don't believe that new speicies arise by a means of natural selection or have other extreemly fanatical veiws on this.
