well yea. its altering energy flows in your body. it works very well for many things.. Its not more painful that what you are already going through though. I own a device called a SCIO.. a modified QXCI (I'l wait while you look that up)........................................................................................
.................................. tippy huh?.. I use it for pain management. it is non-envasive and painless. IT works so well I now use it to make a living.. The Scio is capable of recifying hundreds of things... a bit complicated to explain here, but trust me. WORTH LOOKING INTO!..

I found it really useful, and there wasn't any pain at all for me when the doctor did the needles. He also did some electro-therapy where the muscles were shocked into jumping, and that did hurt sometimes. I was using it to treat fatigue symptoms, and it was good.

You've gotta define expensive. How much money are you losing because of your physical condition? How much agony are you in? Because pain relief is priceless, IMO.

If you are really worried, go check out some library books about "shiatsu" -- it uses the same points as acupunture, but instead of needles, you just press on the points. And if the points are out of balance, it WILL hurt. But, you can do it yourself and see if you get any relief. If it works for you, you might consider the acupuncture more seriously. Really -- where they stick the needles in, there are no nerves, and so it only hurts if someone goofs up.

The pressure of shiatsu isn't as pinpoint as the needles, so you hit some nerves.

I never found it painful (though guess it could be). it felt tingly at times. felt relaxed after. would depend where you are and who you go to about expense (plus what you consider expensive)

I admire your lack of fear regarding needles for even considering it.
I'd just spend the money on a massage instead. Have heard that it does work, though.

as far as the pain, not to bad, and that comes from someone with a very low tolerance for pain and money, well depends on where you live and where you go.

accupuncture is one of THE most relaxing things you will probably ever experiance. the needle is inserted so that all you feel is a slight pinch, like if someone were to pinch the skin on your arm.

first time - it's weird, surprising, and a little pain

second - still weird but you're probably ready for it

third and after - you're probably looking forward to it like you would for a massage

Expensive and elaborate placebo. Paracetamol works better.
