I think that schools should have comprehensive sex ed. There should be one level at the middle schools, and another, deeper level at the high schools. Condoms should be available at the high schools.
Parents should be able to decline their children recieving this type of education if that's how they feel, and the curriculum should be determined at sex committee meetings, which should be open to parents.
Sex Ed should NOT be abstinence based.
I'm all for young people abstining from sex, but kids are going to make their own decisions, and they should at least be given all the knowledge to make good decisions nd to cut down on their risks. It has been proven time and time again that in areas that teach abstinence only sex ed, the rate of teen pregnancy has skyrocketed.
there was a great documentary about this that was filmed a few years ago in an abstinence only school district in Texas (and yes, the teen rate of pregnancy was double the national average AFTER they introduced this curriculum).
It's called "The Education of Shelby Knox", and I highly suggest that you see it.
Also, for those who think that condoms in schools will encourage teen sex...do bandaids in the nurse's office encourage teens to cut themselves?

Yes I do... Real sex ed. When I was younger they taught me the plumbing not about STDs, pregnancy ect. I also think they should have condoms available, at the nurses office and the teen has to ask for them. I also think that parents should be more involved. This won't stamp out teen pregnancy but I think it would make a dent

Yes I think that 13 is the perfect age to start teaching kids about sex. By age 16 many will have started to lose their virginity so a few years before that is the perfect time to start teaching them about sex.
I don't feel that schools should have condoms available. That seems to me like encouraging teens to have sex.
I think that teens should be taught both sides of sex: safe sex and abstinence. We are in the 21st century so we need to be realistic that many teenagers will be having sex by the time they are 16. Once given both sides, the individual can make the decision as to which road they will go down.

I had sex education at 10 in elementary school. It was more "reproductive" education--it explained our (boys and girls) sexual organs and their purpose. My mother has always talked to me about it and was always open. I think it's a great idea to educate our children. It doesn't have to be "if you are going to have sex use a condom."
At a young age we learned (in school) about everything we ever needed to know. There was a vague explanation to STDs and they showed ways people (not students) prevent pregnancy. They touched base on teen pregnancy but it wasn't in detail.
Of course we weren't having sex but at that age they got us at the right time--we weren't interested and they could get us scared before we "knew everything."
I got pregnant as a teen with all the information I could ever need. I knew though--I had to be outside my home before getting pregnant and started in a career. I always knew what I wanted my life to be like so I graduated at sixteen and started my life ASAP. I've done so many things that I'm so grateful for. I was living on my own (married) and was on my way to my degree when I got pregnant. I'm not six credits away from my goal to becoming an early education teacher at nineteen.

Schools usually do have sex education. I went through that class when I was in 8th grade and then 9th. As for condoms..either don't have sex or get your own

i do not know where your living but here they start as early as grade 4-5,just the basics at 1st.. By grade 7 boys/girls are seperated into individual classes and they go into more detail...
As for condoms at school..NO it only says here go ahead & have sex... (even though they'll do it anywayz)As for sex education in schools- i agree with it.. Teens these days jump into it & have no idea what their getting themselves into its not so much unwanted pregnancies anymore but STD's.

yes i think these days teens need to learn about sex and how to prevent pregnancy as soon as possible .....with so many young teens getting pregnant and wanting to have abortions ...making condoms and other birth control methods would probably cut down teen pregnancy drastically.

who's the different female? If the two all of us is virgins then there is little threat of STD except one replaced into born of an contaminated make certain. regardless of if, there's a huge threat of being pregnant, so which you need to apply risk-free practices.
