I think that setting may be more for toaster pastries and things.

I am a person who likes my toast, pizza, and other things slightly burnt, but even the high setting on the toaster is a bit much for me.

Because the toaster companies want to make you feel secure in the fact that if you ever wanted burnt toast you could have it. And if they don't give you that option their competitors will.

But I do agree with you, burnt toast is only good for creating carcinogenic in the body.

I don't know but one woman at work always likes her cookies really brown on the bottom,
and also likes her bread really dark on top

I only use that setting to cook frozen chiken patties. They come out pretty decent.
